| I was painting the inside of Solid Rock Christian Academy’s preschool this week, and while I was cutting in some edges, the Lord and I had a sweet moment. I share about it here: | | | WHAT A SUMMER!!! | | | The summer started out with Sports Camp! Some friends of mine brought their family down to help with camp, and it was such a blessing! This was the first year that we had volleyball as an option and that was a huge success! The thing I loved most about having volleyball (besides adding a sport) was that it was led by a local! My heart’s desire is to get to a place where sports camp is completely Belizean organized and run; we are well on our way to that! | | At the beginning of the week, we had about 63 kids attending and by the end of the week we had about 76! It was so awesome to see the number of kids grow each day. Approx. 28 kids gave their lives to the Lord, the entire reason we do camp! | | | Just 3 days before the above picture was taken, I was standing with this little boy and his family as we laid his father to rest. You see, his dad, just a week prior had died, but you wouldn’t have known his pain from the JOY that this boy exuded all week at camp. When I snapped this picture, I had a moment with the Lord where I realized that sports camp truly is about more than just sports. It’s providing a safe place where kids can “retreat” from their reality for a couple hours and just be kids! So many of these kids have heavy responsibilities here… honestly, responsibility and worry that no child should have to carry, but it’s their reality. Sports camp is an opportunity to love on kids with the love of Jesus, and I’m here for it! Excited for what’s to come this fall/winter regarding camps! | | | In between camps, I had the opportunity to go back to the states for just over a week. It was the first time since moving here I had been in the states and what a gift it was to be able to spend that time with my family! | | | Youth convention was the third week of July, and it was powerful. We were blessed with a team from Franklin, TN; and some pastor friends of mine from Ft. Myers, FL to come and put on the convention. It consisted of teaching time, worship, breakout sessions, games and evening sessions. Lives were impacted and youth are still talking about what they experienced this summer. They even are talking about how they can’t wait for next summer! | | One of the coolest things from this week is that we were able to give away about 40 Bibles to youth who didn’t have a physical Bible. There is something so special and unique about having a physical Bible of your own, and when Pastor Jordan found out that most of those youth didn’t have one, he put a call out to his church, and within 24 hours, enough funds were raised to purchase 90 Bibles and have a significant amount left over so the church could now have a “Bible fund”! Thank you Mission Community Church (and a couple other individuals) for your willingness and faithfulness to see the Word of God physically dispersed in the nations! | | | August brought a few opportunities for rest for our team. After convention, Pastor, Mrs. Evans and their family went to Hopkins for a week of R&R, and I was gifted with the opportunity to join them for a few days! It was very sweet time to rejuvenate. Just a couple days after they got back, we had the opportunity to go out to San Pedro for a crusade. This was a great time because we took a number of our leaders from the church. It was a great time of relationship building and encouragement for us! I loved that our volunteer leaders were able to get away for a few days and receive some ministry. It’s so important for those who serve so hard and diligently to get away and get refreshed sometimes! | | | | BUILDING SOMETHING ETERNAL | | If you remember from past newsletters, I mentioned how Solid Rock Christian Academy is in the process of raising money to finish building 2 classrooms and 2 bathrooms. While that project is still very much underway (well, building is paused because of lack of funds); we had a young man from the states come to us and say he would like to build a new playground for the preschool! This young man is working on his Eagle Scout, and he chose to build this playground as his final project! He designed it, put together a supply list, a team and executed it all! He and the team of men worked hard in the mornings before convention, and then joined us to convention! So proud of his hard work. One of the coolest things about this is that mid-week, we had some local youth guys come and volunteer their time to help build! Before they were even finished building, neighborhood kids were already waiting to play, and jumped on as soon as they were allowed! What fun! | | YOU CAN STILL HELP!While the building of this playground is a great addition to the school, you can see in the background of the image above that they are at a standstill in the building of the 2 classrooms and bathrooms. As school is starting for the new year, the administration, staff and parents are starting fundraising again, but YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT in helping to complete this project!
