Motorists challenged to pass the cycle safety test

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service joined forces with Thames Valley Police to tackle the hazardous ‘Close Pass', feared by many cyclists. Find out what happened and how much room you need to allow to overtake cyclists safely.

New homes

Much needed funding for infrastructure and affordable housing

Oxfordshire will benefit from the country’s first housing and growth. The deal worth an initial £215m will see 100,000 new homes built between 2011 and 2031 in return for money to improve roads and other important infrastructure to support the housing.

Award-winning children’s author Julia Donaldson will join hundreds of Oxfordshire school pupils in a musical extravaganza. Tickets have now sold out, but we’ve held back four tickets for a performance of the show at 10.45am on Wednesday 25 April.

County Library in Oxford is offering free author talks for the public. Join Imogen Matthews on 4 April at 6pm as she talks about Dutch heritage and the discovery of a hidden Dutch village with WW2 links. At 2pm on 12 April hear Annie Murray, author of 'The Cadbury Girls', talk about her popular historicl novels set in Birmingham. Get your free tickets on Eventbrite or ask at the County Library.
