The Summer of Reading

Are you looking for activities to keep your family busy over the summer?
Have you heard about The Summer of Reading? Among the many organisations involved in this project are Booktrust, the Reading Agency and The Reader Organisation. You'll discover all sorts of activities such as scavenger hunts, story times, book clubs and games.

Children can take part in the Wild World Summer Reading Challenge and be entered for a prize draw at their local Oxfordshire Library from July 10 to September 10 2021. Read all about it here.
Rocking and Rolling...
Relax with the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine, available to download onto your Libby app.  Put your headphones on and take the time to explore our new music service from Freegal.  Freegal offers access to about 11 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalogue of legendary artists, and over 15,000 music videos.
Wainwright Prize
Vesper Flights
The 2021 Wainwright Prize for UK nature writing longlist was recently announced. Whilst we wait for the shortlist to be announced on August 4,  you could reserve these titles from our online catalogue

Alternatively, for inspiration, you could browse last year's short listed titles in the Good Reads section of our website.  Look for Adults' Book Awards.
Children's Covid 19 Reading List 
The Reading Agency has put together a list of book titles '"to help children stay safe, calm, connected and hopeful during the Covid 19 crisis". You'll find all the titles on their website here. You can also click on the eBook covers below to borrow or reserve one of these titles from the collection from Overdrive.

Roadmap out of lockdown
Oxfordshire Libraries are ever hopeful that we can ease some of the restrictions in libraries that have been keeping our buildings safe for customers and staff over the last year. Details cannot be finalised yet but we will keep you informed on social media, our website and also in your local library.
