We’re talking rubbish

60% of household waste recyclable items are still going into general waste wheelie bins. So we want to know what else could be done to help the people recycle more, including increasing the range of materials that can be recycled at  the kerbside. Have your say

If you’re keen to cut down on the amount of plastic you produce, we’ve asked our Household Waste Team to give us their top tips for reducing plastic, and they were only too happy to oblige.
 
 

Half term activities

We’re nearly halfway through the spring term, which means it must be time to scour the interwebs for fun ways to keep the kids active... As always, the Oxfordshire Family Information Service Directory is a great place to start.

Chinese New Year Celebration at Blenheim Palace

Join us for our first ever Chinese New Year celebrations... Enjoy a traditional Double Guan Yin Chinese Lion dance accompanied by a drummer and tuck in to some delicious Chinese street food from a variety of stalls in the Great Court. 

Build a Bird Feeder at Earth Trust

Give your garden visitors a helping hand by making three different bird feeders to take home.

All tools and materials provided.

Creation Theatre Company Half term Workshops

Every holiday, Creation Theatre run Put on a Play in a Week workshops. Join the Creation team for a week where we get to grips with the text and rehearse, whilst playing a lot of games, then on Friday, we invite friends and family to come and see the final show. The show will usually take place at 3pm on the Friday, this will be confirmed during the week.

Community funding for Children’s Services

Throughout 2017 we issued start-up grants to communities looking to run open-access children’s services across the county, and the latest successful bids have been announced, with 32 groups now having benefited. Cholsey, Charlbury and Sutton Courtenay are the latest to receive start-up funding. More
Busting Blue Badge Misuse
After our Blue Badge Amnesty at the end of last year, we’ve been working with Oxford City Council to crack down on Blue Badge misuse. So far we’ve inspected more than 650 blue badges, removed 18 of them and  issued 7 penalty charge notices to boot. Find out more.
