|August News 2011
Hi, The kids have returned to school here, and our summer weather has begun! I have been enjoying working on our first video on our wildcrafted comfrey, which can now be seen on the front page of the website. I even did my own voice over, great fun :-).
We introduce our NEW essential oil blend, Rose Heaven, which we offer as a 10ml blend for use in a oil burner, or you can dilute with carrier oils for use on the body. The scent can be found in our Beeswax Candles and a new Rose Heaven Scent (pot pourri for the 21st century). We are already getting some fabulous feedback on this powerful but gently balancing, uplifting and soothing scent. Check out the introductory offer.
We have Lindsay Lumsden a highly experienced Aromatherapist and course organiser in our spotlight this month, with a new and exciting course.
We are looking at wheatgerm (triticum vulgare) oil this month.
It is separated from the wheatgrain when milling white flour and the wheatgerm contains much of the protein, is high iin Vitamin E and contains many other vitamins and minerals, including some of the B vitamins. Good quality wheatgerm oil is usually extracted by a method akin to maceration.
We use this oil in some of our products as it an antidioxidant, for the high levels of vitamin E and ibecause it acts as a natural preservative. It is better to use it in a blend of other oils, as it is so rich in consistency, perhaps a 5-15% in other oils. Wheatgerm can be extremely useful for very dry skin, for mature skin, where the antioxidants come into their own, to help promote the formation of skin cells. It is often used in anti-ageing formulations. It can also be helpful for itchy skin and for use in a blend for fatigued muscles.
You can buy our wheatgerm oil as a pure oil, or it can be found in our Aromatherapy Bath & Body Oil Products, also our Lip Balms, Comfrey Ointment, Gardener's Hand Balm and Herbal Foot Balm.
All feedback extremely welcome and thanks for your custom and support as always

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a life skill which can deepen our sense of well-being and fulfilment. It involves paying attention to what is occurring in our present moment experience, with an attitude of openness and non-judgemental acceptance. It engages all of our sense as we open to our entire experience, becoming aware of our body, emotions, thoughts and the external environment. It is a natural and an intuitive state of presence in which we can feel more connected, real and alive. (Mindfulness Scotland 2009)
Mindfulness is a state of being which is accessible to every one of us. It is also a skill which we can cultivate more deeply in our lives. This is the aim of the 8-week programme (7 evenings and 1 full day) being offered at Corse House, Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire from 8 September.

In Aberdeenshire we have NEOS (North East Open Studios) gearing up to start from September 10-18th, where artists, galleries and makers open their doors to the public. Emma and David Pattullo from Platform 22 will have displays there that we will be part of during that week and beyond.
