What's New in Sylvan Lake?

Alberta’s favourite beach town is getting a brand new attraction, opening an all-new lighthouse and gearing up for a summer full of fun.

July 7, 2016, Sylvan Lake, AB: Summertime is fun time when you’re in Sylvan Lake. New attractions, exciting events, and fun activities are certain to make this summer better than ever.

Announcing the Wibit Sylvan Lake Aqua Park
A commercial floating waterpark is coming to Sylvan Lake this summer! A genuine Wibit watersports park has been approved and will be opening this summer. This interlocking, modular style water park is one of the hottest new trends in water play and the Sylvan Lake location will be the first of its kind in Alberta. We expect an announcement of the expected opening date very soon.

Sylvan Lake Lighthouse Now Open
Alberta is a landlocked province, but that’s no reason not to have a lighthouse or two dotting the landscape. Sylvan Lake had one of the most visited lighthouses in the province until 2012 when it was condemned and torn down. Local residents and the Sylvan Lake Lion’s Club got behind the idea of re-building it - making it bigger and better. The new lighthouse was officially opened on July 1. It’s fully functional and has a walking trail and adjacent park.

Wild Rapids Waterslide Park Closing at the end of this Season
The news is out. After 34 years, one of Alberta’s biggest outdoor waterparks will be closing. That makes this summer bitter sweet. Visitors and locals alike are savouring their last chance to enjoy the thrilling rides and slides this exciting summer waterpark has to offer. The Town of Sylvan Lake has purchased the lakefront property in order to provide more public space along the lakeshore.

Shake the Lake is Back
The all ages Action Sports and Music Festival will run on August 12 and 13 and feature action sports like skateboarding and BMX competitions as well as live music.
