Three UGA students took home $10,000 for their e-commerce startup, Vollarte, by winning UGA’s Next Top Entrepreneur competition on March 30. The students plan to use the seed money to create a website that connects socially minded artists to a broad customer base.

Firms these days sell more than their products online. Starbucks sells community involvement. Patagonia sells sustainability. Dove soap sells female self-esteem. But while social media engagement has piqued the interest of marketers and scholars alike, new UGA research is the first to examine which factors determine the success of prosocial messages online.

Terry Leadership Speaker Series

Effective leaders stick to their values and work hard to make other people better. Those were the messages relayed by Debbie Storey (AB '80, MBA '06), the executive vice president for mobility and customer service at AT&T, at a recent Terry Leadership Speaker Series event.

MIS ranked in USA Today College Top 10

USA Today published a list of the top 10 schools for a bachelor’s in Management Information Systems by College Factual. The ranking was developed to reward schools that provide excellent outcomes to students, including high graduation rates, low student loan default rates and high salaries after graduation.

UGA Alumni directory underway

UGA is compiling the first comprehensive alumni directory in more than five years and asks all alumni to update their information. Please call Publishing Concepts (PCI) at 866-571-1432 to verify your information.

UGA hosts national start-up competitions

This season brings students from across Georgia and throughout the nation to the University of Georgia for two events that give young entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their business and consumer brand concepts to a panel of investors and advisors for $35,000 in prize money.

Student Government Association honors Terry faculty

The Student Government Association recognized the work of three Terry faculty members and seven others at its annual Professor Recognition Ceremony. Dawn Bennett-Alexander, associate professor of legal studies; Kimberly Grantham, senior lecturer in marketing; and Katherine McClain, senior lecturer in economics, were selected by the SGA's academic affairs committee.
