Dear Friends,

The Institute of Culinary Arts (ICA), located in the beautiful Banhoek valley, is an accredited training centre that has trained students since 1996 in the hospitality industry. The ICA offers a variety of internationally recognized qualifications and specialized fields of study to meet the diverse needs of the industry.

The ICA has been selected for the third consecutive year, in conjunction with Imbali Western Cape, to offer the City & Guilds Certificate in Food and Beverage Service. This initiative is in line with the ICA's social ethos and policies, as well as Imbali's mission to enable independent income earning opportunities by investing in the training of deserving young people from the local community. The course is made possible by the sponsorship and support received from Thomas and Steffi Curry and their organization Lebenslinien e.V., which allows as many as 10 specially selected young people to complete this course, which is recognised internationally by more than one hundred countries.

Imbali is proud to announce that by the means of this specialized training and mentoring, this year's students are well equipped with the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills. As a result, all are already permanently employed in the hospitality industry! Thus proving that that this program provides enthusiastic students the opportunity for personal development and growth that not only opens doors for a career in South Africa but also internationally.

Tyron Rooi is this year's proud recipient of the 2014 Top Achiever Award - a cash prize of R5000. He passed the course with distinction, a true reflection of his dedication and hard work. The entire group of students achieved a 100% pass rate and the program will resume in 2015 with a new group of students. This outstanding training program ensures that promising young employees, empowered with knowledge and professional training can enter the exciting hospitality industry in South Africa, or in fact, anywhere in the world!

Imbali Western Cape would like to thank our sponsors - Bonnie and the late Clive Evans who, via the Africa Foundation USA, Mirja Sachs Foundation as well as Lebenslinien e.V., continue to support this initiative to make it the success it is. We would also like to thank our dear friends, Letitia and Kobus Prinsloo and Merizle Metrovich of the ICA, for all they have done to graduate these students.
Bless you for caring!
