Saturday, May 12, 9-11am
Join us for a casual, family-friendly fundraising walk to benefit the Library's Early Childhood materials and activities. All ages welcome. Check in is at 9am, and the Walk begins at 9:45, rain or shine. The course begins and ends at the Brighton District Library. Please no dogs or bikes. Dress as your favorite book character. Lace up your walking shoes and join the fun!

Using Vital Records for Genealogy Research
Monday, May 14, 7-8:30pm (Room A/B)
Paper records were created for many of your ancestors from the moment of their birth until their death. Finding those records can be challenging for both novice and experienced researchers. Join Mark Mullinax, our Genealogy and Local History Librarian, as he explains the different types of vital records and where they are kept. You will learn how to recognize and evaluate the information those records contain, what kind of information is included in the different records, and where to find specific types of records. This class is geared for beginner and intermediate researchers.

Healthy Weight Loss

Learn about the causes of weight gain and a holistic approach to losing weight and keeping it off. Learn which foods are helpful for weight loss, and get tips for keeping you motivated.

Join us to make a book-bag! In our series of repurposed books, we'll be taking an old hardcover and turning it into a great little purse. Registration begins Tuesday, May 15. Limit of 12 participants.
 
Larry Martin's World War II in His Own Words
Tuesday, May 29, 7-8:30pm (Room A/B)
Over the past 12 years Larry Martin has conducted more than 75 interviews of World War II veterans. This program will feature a video of a sampling of these interviews, plus memorabilia including weapons, photos, newspapers, and more.

Are you looking for something cool to read and discuss? Sign up for our fun teen book club by yourself or with a favorite adult. Bring your dinner, and we'll provide dessert! This month's book is Little Brother by Cory Doctorow, a dystopian story about a teenage hacker, Marcus, who is mistaken for a terrorist by Homeland Security. Can he fight back against a government out of control? Maybe, but only if he's really careful . . . and very, very smart.
