Introducing New Library Director, Cindy Mack
I am excited to introduce myself as the new Director of the Brighton District Library. For the last nine years, I have been a library director in varying environments, including most recently the Wixom Public Library and prior to that at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I received my bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and my master’s degree in Library Science from Indiana University.
I am extremely passionate and dedicated to the field of librarianship. I believe a library is an imperative part of a community, providing a wide range of resources and services that fulfill its educational, informational, and recreational needs. It is my professional belief that libraries are an integral part of a community’s success, providing lifelong learning opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of the patrons it serves.
I am honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve as the next Director of the Brighton District Library. I look forward to joining such a vibrant library organization and building upon what has already been accomplished to continue to enhance, develop, and deliver innovative and relevant library services and program for the patrons served by the Brighton District Library.

Support, Networking, and Knowledge for Brand New Parents
Are you a first time parent looking to meet other parents? If so, the Brighton District Library has the group for you. On August 25th, the First Time, First Year group will meet to make Infant Treasure Baskets. Jo Ann Cook, Early Childhood Trainer with Child Connect for Family Success, will lead the group in creating a Montessori sensory based basket. Each parent will take home a low basket or sturdy box filled with interesting household object and things from nature. The objects will be large enough not to be swallowed and free from sharp edges or anything else that might be harmful when they are touched and quite possibly mouthed by a young child.
