Thanks to the Friends of the Brighton District Library
for supporting Library events.

A Note from the Director:

The Brighton District Library invites the community to support our efforts to enrich lives with a tax-deductible donation to our year-end appeal.

The Brighton District Library’s highest priority is providing superior library services.  We are honored to be counted among the many factors that add to the quality of life in our community. No matter the service or program, no matter the age of the patron, our intent is the same. We seek to provide experiences that will enrich and enhance the lives of those we serve.

We are grateful for your support. You may designate your contribution to a particular area of Library service or generally support all our efforts to enrich lives. Gifts are accepted both online and by check.

Online Study Room Reservation is Here & Online Program Registration is Coming Soon!

The Library's small study rooms seat up to 8 people, and are popular with students, business people, and anyone who needs a quiet place to meet with a friend or associate. Now these spaces can be reserved online from your favorite device. Visit brightonlibrary.evanced.info/dibs to book a room. Reservations can be made for up to 2 hours per day, and a week in advance.

We are also excited to announce that a new events calendar for the Library will be going live by early December. Among other improvements, it will permit users to register for Library programs online from the calendar listing. Look for it soon on the Library website.

Library Trustees News

Congratulations to the members of the Brighton District Library Board of Trustees elected on November 8 to four-year terms ending in 2020: Patrick McDonald, re-elected for a new term; Arla McPeek and Rich Perlberg, elected to the seats they had accepted by appointment following the death of Jane Clarke and retirement of Jeannette Hill; and Jordan Genso, newly elected to the Board.

We also offer our heartfelt thanks to Margaret McDonald, who will leave the Board in December following her decision not to seek a new term this year, for her valued service to the Library. Margaret has been a trustee since 2011, and has been a reliable advocate for improving library services to our community.

Call Me Ishmael Needs
Your Book Reviews

Our Call me Ishmael book review telephone is on the move! Its next stop is our youth services department. It will feature a new batch of book talks provided by you! You can call in to 810-229-6571 x225 and leave a message with your own book talks. Tell us about a book you love and what makes it special to you. We'll choose some to load into our Call me Ismael phone for other Library patrons to enjoy. Next time you're in, you can stop by and listen to reviews and find new books for yourself too.
