New Trustee, Rich Perlberg
Rich Perlberg has joined the Library Trustees by filling the seat left vacant by Jeannette Hill's retirement.
Rich has been a Livingston County resident since 1974 and has worked on the local newspaper since then. First, as a reporter, then as editor. He retired from the paper in September 2013.
He has been an active member of the community for a long time. Past positions include: chair of the Livingston County United Way board; chair (twice) of the United Way fund drive; chair of both the Brighton and Howell chamber of commerce boards; chair of the McPherson Community Hospital board; chair of the St. Joseph Mercy Health System board; president of the Michigan Press Association; founding member of the Women’s Resource Commission.
"Currently I serve on the boards of Cleary University, Work Skills Corporation and the Economic Development Corporation of Livingston County. I will join the Brighton Rotary board this summer and currently serve as president of the Michigan Press Association Foundation.
"Last year, I had the privilege of chairing the committee that promoted the successful millage campaign for the Brighton District Library. While the library’s excellent reputation made the issue an “easy sell,” the experience opened my eyes even more to the great resource provided by the library. I would be honored to learn more and perhaps add to the library’s great story."
We are very pleased to welcome Rich Perlberg to our Board of Trustees.
Call me Ishmael
Coming soon! The Library has a new way for you to discover great books. We have a brand new Call me Ishmael phone. Patrons and staff can call in to record a brief review of a book they love. When others visit the Library, they can dial up a review and try the book for themselves. Be sure to stop in and try it out the next time you're in the Library!
Fill a Backpack
The Brighton District Library is collecting school supplies and backpacks for the Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) 15th annual "Backpacks for Kids" project. The goal is to provide Livingston County students, whose families are experiencing financial difficulties, with basic school supplies. Check their Donation Wishlist for more details.
