Let's Get the Rhythm
Monday, July 2, 6:30-8pm (Room A/B)
Join in, learn, practice, and put on a show at the end of the evening. Ages 7-11. Space is limited. Free tickets will be available from the Youth Services staff 30 minutes prior to the event.
 
Soda Pop Band
Tuesday, July 3, 6:30-8pm (Room A/B)
Join in, learn, practice, and put on a show at the end of the evening. Please check at Youth Desk for list of empty bottles needed. Ages 7-11. Space is limited. Free tickets will be available from the Youth Services staff 30 minutes prior to the event.

It's Magic!

Enjoy the magic of award-winning magician and actor, Tom Plunkard. His spell-binding performance is filled with illusions and powerful messages. Ages 5 and up. Space is limited. Free tickets will be available from the Youth Services staff 30 minutes prior to the event.
 
Dog Tails With Sadie
Tuesdays, July 10, 17, & 31, 11-Noon
(Room A/B)

Our friendly therapy dog, Sadie, would love for you to read her a story! Research has shown that children can improve their reading skills by reading aloud to a non-judgmental listener like Sadie. Sign up for a 10 minute slot. For ages 5-10. Register now.
 
Crafts Galore! Into the Depths
Wednesday, July 11, 10:30-Noon OR 6-7:30pm (Room A/B)
Sign up with a friend or make new friends. Create age appropriate crafts. Register now. Ages 4-6 with adult participation, and ages 7-11.
 
Dreams and Wishes Story Time
Friday, July 13, 10:15-11:15am (Room A/B)
Come dressed in your comfy jammies and slippers to share dreamy stories and wonderful wishes. All ages. Space is limited. Free tickets will be available from the Youth Services staff 30 minutes prior to the event.
 
Nighty Night Story Time
Monday, July 16, 6:30-7:15pm (Room A/B)
Parents, children, and favorite bedtime cuddly friends are invited to enjoy night time stories, a finger play, flannel board, music and a night sky craft. All ages. Space is limited. Free tickets will be available from the Youth Services staff 30 minutes prior to the event.

Tuesdays & Wednesdays, July 17, 18, 24 & 25, 10:30am-12:30pm (Room A/B)
Participants must register for all four Tuesday and Wednesday sessions. Learn to write computer code using the simple programming language of LOGO. No programming experience or knowledge is necessary. For students who have completed grades 3, 4, or 5. Registration begins July 3.

Dream Big Fairy Tea

Millie's Garden just might be full of Fairies...come find out. Join us for a fun morning of fairy activities in the garden. Ages 4-8. Registration begins July 10. Adult participation required. Program cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

Meet staff from Ann Arbor's famous Motawi Tileworks and learn how they create their amazing ceramic art. End the evening by making a tile of your own! No experience is required and the Library supplies all materials. Registration begins June 26.

Meet local ghost hunter Ken Suminski, the founder of Brighton's Portal Paranormal Society, and get an introduction in how to investigate possible hauntings. Registration begins July 3.
 
Nightmares Up Close

Join the fantastic Joel Tacey for a hands-on workshop about eight spooky events from the real world, including the Jack the Ripper murders and the sinking of the Titanic. Registration begins July 9. Ages 11-18.

Starry Skies & Pizza Pies Book Club

Embrace the Summer Reading theme with a Science Fiction book discussion. A pizza dinner will be provided, so come hungry! This month's book, Neal Shusterman's Unwind, tells the story of a futuristic society that salvages unwanted teens for their body parts. Book Release Party
Images of America: The Brighton Area

Saturday, July 21, 1:30-3pm (Reading Room)
Join the Brighton Area Historical Society in a celebration of the release of Images of America: The Brighton Area by local author Genal Pratt. This book collects nearly 200 photographs to provide a fascinating record of the people, farms, and businesses that drove the growth of Brighton through the 19th and 20th centuries.

Check out a free one-day pass for any Michigan State Park or Recreation Area from the Library. Now also good for admission to the museums and sites in the Michigan Historical Museum system!

Murder at the
Deadwood Saloon

Friday, July 27, 6-8pm (Room A/B)
There’s a full house at the Deadwood Saloon for its renowned poker tournament...and a murder! Register for this mystery party to receive your character's name, along with a few important details (as well as how to dress!). The day of the party, you'll find out whether you're the victim...or the murderer! Registration begins July 6, in person only. Adults who register must have a teenage relative who also will be attending the event. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided.
