 Bring your camera and meet Belle of Brighton High School's presentation of Beauty and the Beast. She will share books, songs, and rhymes. Each child will receive a free book. For children of all ages and their caregivers. Free ticket will be available 15 minutes before the program.


Bouncing Babies

Delight and stimulate your baby with songs, rhymes, and play time. Get to know other families and help your baby develop listening and language skills. For babies ages 4-12 months and their caregivers. Drop in.

Tiny Tutus
Wednesday, Apr 10, 6:30-7:30 pm
(Youth Dept)

Using elastic strips and knotting tulle, we'll create a simple child's tutu. Show off our tutu fashion and float through the library like a ballerina with a "tutu" fun parade. Music, story, and supplies provided. For children ages 2-5 and their caregivers. Register now.


Great Start Livingston Play Group

This exciting playgroup offers opportunities for parent discussions, child interactions, and information for raising healthy, happy children. 4th Annual Lego Design Program

Create an amazing LEGO design for the Brighton District Library's 4th annual design program! This year's theme will be robotics. Entries will be accepted Apr 15-21. Entries will remain on display until Apr 27. All entries will receive a prize.
 
La Leche League of Brighton
Monday, Apr 15, 7-8:30 pm (Youth Dept)

La Leche League of Brighton offers mother-to-mother support, information, and education to breastfeeding and expectant mothers. Meetings are discussion-based and informal. Babies and children are welcome. Drop-in.


STORYTIME REGISTRATION

Read and Rhyme Together
Mondays, Apr 29–May 20, 10-11am

Using the Every Child Ready to Read model, toddlers and their caregivers sing, read, write, talk, and play as they build their pre-reading skills. For children ages 24-36 months and their caregivers.
 
Baby Boogie
Mondays, Apr 29–May 20, 10:15-10:45am (Youth Dept)

Stimulate your active toddler with books, music, and movement. This program is best suited to toddlers who enjoy rolling, creeping, stretching and moving. Play time concludes the program. For children 12 to 23 months and their caregivers.
 
Alphabet Soup
Tuesdays, Apr 30-May 21, 10:15-11am
(Youth Dept)

Your child will explore the alphabet with hands-on fun as we celebrate a different letter every week through stories, song, rhymes, and crafts. For children ages 4-5 and their caregivers.
 
Storybook Kids
Wednesdays, May 1-23, 10-11am
(Youth Dept)

Children ages 36-48 months and their caregivers will enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and fun hands-on activities designed to develop pre-reading and writing skills.

All Join In

Share stories, songs, and rhymes. Playtime for children and conversation for adults concludes the program. For children of all ages and their caregivers. Free ticket available 15 minutes prior to the program. Space is limited to 75 participants.

Loom and Finger Weave
Monday, Apr 22, 6:30-8pm
(Conference Room)

Receive a loom and hook and create a unique woven square. The square can be made into a cell phone case, small purse, or potholder. Learn how to finger weave also. For children ages 7-11. Space and supplies are limited. Registration begins Apr 8.
 
Where's Spot?
Friday, Apr 26, 10:15-11:30am (Youth Dept)

Share stories, music, and fun activities with your favorite book character Spot the Dog. Bring your camera for lots of photo opportunities. For children of all ages and their caregivers. Space is limited. Free ticket available 15 minutes prior to the program.

Discover the fascinating features and survival tools of Michigan's native nocturnal animals. Meet a live owl, bats, and a flying squirrel and learn how they survive in their nighttime environment. Presented by the Organization for Bat Conservation. For children ages 6 and up. Tickets available 30 minutes before program.

Brighton District Library's Second Annual gala fundraiser was a great success, with proceeds from tickets and auctions in excess of $15,000. Auction proceeds will benefit the print, audio-visual, and electronic collections
at the Library.


 

The Library Board of Directors would like to extend its gratitude to Kate Lawrence and
Pam McConeghy for serving as Honorary Co-Chairpersons and to Mike Ball, Emcee.  




Musical entertainment was provided by Ed Rutkowski.  Models and designers for the Book Jacket Fashion Show included Hon. Theresa Brennan, Rich Perlberg, Steven Obeda, Dr. Katherine Lawrence, Erin Gobielle, Gianna Colley,  Andrea Bonomo and consultant, Rose Anna Botorowicz.
