A Message From the Director
As the new Library Director, I am thrilled to be working in such a supportive community with a vibrant and dynamic staff and Library Board. Thanks to your generous support, the Library is planning and budgeting for significant building and service improvements over the coming years. We are keen on working to exceed community desires and expectations through the delivery of quality programs, materials, services and upgraded facilities.
Our materials budget has been increased by 44% and we are continuously purchasing new items for our collection. Most recently, we have added a downloadable service called Hoopla where patrons can electronically check out and view books, audiobooks and music. Soon we will begin completely renovating the library restrooms; the project should be completed by late December.
I look forward to getting to know more of you in the coming months. Please don’t hesitate to stop by an introduce yourself.
-Cindy Mack, Library Director

Programming kicked off with a Millennials Meet and Mingle which consisted of great conversation, refreshments, and games.
The next program, Bad Art Night, will be held Thursday, September 8, 7-8:30pm. Participants will be encouraged to explore their creative side and create the most hideous piece of art they can. Prizes will be awarded to the most awful art and winners will be displayed in the Library.
A new book discussion group, Books and Brews, will launch this month. This discussion group will meet at 7pm the 2nd Wednesday of each month, beginning September 14, for books and beverages located at Brewery Becker in downtown Brighton. During the September meeting, we’ll create our reading list for the year, so if there’s a title you’d like to recommend (or are interested in reading), jot down your suggestions.
As with our previous Evening Book Discussion, this one meets September through May (no meeting in December) from 7-8pm.
