Digital Editions of Your Favorite Magazines Now Available
through the Library
Brighton District Library is pleased to join The Library Network group offering Zinio for Libraries. Through the group’s website, BDL cardholders have unlimited multi-user access to complete digital magazines, which can easily be viewed on most Internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. Whether it is The Economist or Us Weekly, Zinio’s unique technology digitally recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, intuitive navigation, key word article search, and interactive elements such as audio and video. Issues from more than 250 magazines are available, covering a complete range of interests. More details are available at the website:

Please note that due to licensing restrictions, this service is available only to district residents.

Special Needs Collection Helps Develop Literacy and Skills
As noted in last month's newsletter article, there were technical problems with our website that delayed publication of the webpage for our new Special Needs Collection. We wanted to report that the website is up and running at
www.brightonlibrary.info/special_needs_collection.

The Special Needs Collection includes print and audio-visual materials to aid people with visual and hearing impairments, cognitive challenges, motor, speech or language delays, and emotional-behavioral issues. This collection is useful for children, adults, parents, caregivers, and teachers.  The Collection is funded in part by the Friends of the Brighton District Library.
Farewell to Sherrie Rice
We are saddened by the news that after nearly 20 years at the Brighton District Library, Sherrie Rice will be leaving in early December. From her start at the Circulation Desk, Sherrie moved into the Youth Department, and eventually obtained her Masters degree in Library Studies from Wayne State. Her work with youth programs and materials, and especially outreach, will be much missed. We wish Sherrie joy in her future endeavors!
