Hello, my name is Eric Buchholz and now that we are close to getting over the heat of summer, I would like to welcome you back to the new season with the ASHRAE Tucson chapter. I am the incoming Chapter President and I work at Sun Mechanical as the Director of Operations. I would like to thank all of you for your interest in ASHRAE and our monthly luncheon meetings. I am looking forward to a great year for our Tucson Chapter – we are planning many exciting activities that we hope everyone will enjoy. We have a Trap Shoot event with our Central Arizona Chapter in Casa Grande in November, the Product Show at Pima Community College in February, our annual Golf Event in the spring, and many other events for us to network and connect with others in our industry. If you have any recommendations or comments for presentation topics and speakers, feel free to let any of us on the ASHRAE board know. You can reach me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.

SEPTEMBER LUNCH MEETING
Hydronic balancing is about controlling water flow, without it a temperature control system will never perform to its full potential. We will be reviewing the basics of hydronic balancing and how proper distribution balancing can help the production system run more efficiently and possibly save energy costs. We will discuss the different types of balancing valves and control valves on the market. We will discuss control valve Authority, explain what it is, and how proper control valve Authority helps with better controllability of the control valve. We will also discuss stabilizing differential pressure and it’s benefit in a hydronic system.
Our speaker will be Keith Peterson, a Hydronic Balancing Specialist for Victaulic. Victaulic is a global leader in mechanical pipe joining systems and is partnered with Tour Andersson Hydronics, now known as IMI Hydronic Engineering. He is a graduate of one of the AZ Universities located in Tempe Az. Based in Arizona he has six years industry experience and three years with Victaulic. Develops Hydronic Balancing opportunities in the HVAC market through facility owners, engineers and mechanical contracting companies. Focus on engineering integrity and energy savings realized through proper hydronic balancing of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems.
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM RESEARCH PROMOTION
A very special THANK YOU to all the individuals and companies that personally donated to the ASHRAE Research Promotion (RP) campaign during the last ASHRAE Society year supporting ASHRAE Technical Research, the ASHRAE Learning Institute and Educational programs and ASHRAE Society Scholarships! An additional THANK YOU for the tremendous support of individuals and companies for our terrific Product Show, Trap Shoot and Golf Tournament events last year from which all proceeds support ASHRAE RP, Scholarships for local engineering students and K-12 STEM activities. With your help and support as a chapter of about 120 members we were able to raise $12,381 for ASHRAE Research and another $2,000 for scholarships and K-12 STEM activities, more than double any year in recent memory. Everyone should be very encouraged by this as this as our chapter is one of the highest preforming chapters, competing with chapters with double or even triple the amount of members as we have. For a complete list of all who donated please see the following link:
Again Thank you for all your support- Here's to another fantastic year moving forward!
