Welcome our new Chapter President: Robert Kunkel

RobertHello <<First Name>>!

The 2011-2012 theme set by Society President Ronald Jarnagin is "Sustaining ASHRAE Through Leadership" which highlights the role ASHRAE members play as leaders in sustainable design and practices. Robert is excited to lead the Tucson chapter by example in the attempt to achieve the ASHRAE Chapter Sustainability Award which is awarded to chapters who obtain 200 points from the Sustainability Activities section of the President's Award of Excellence (PAOE). Robert's other goals for the Tucson Chapter include increasing monthly meeting attendance among members, non-members and students, encouraging new member participation on both the Chapter Board and on various Committees, and encouraging increased student involvement in chapter activities. In addition to achieve the points needed for the Sustainability Award, he is seeking to earn the minimum points in at least four of the five PAOE categories, which will continue to help keep the Chapter headed in the right direction.

Robert has been an ASHRAE member and regularly attended local ASHRAE meetings since 2005. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona and he has worked in the HVAC industry since 2005. Robert's background includes mechanical and plumbing design with an emphasis on central plant design and hospitals. Robert is a registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering and is a LEED GA. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports & movies, listening to music, outdoor activities and traveling with his wife.

The upcoming Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) will be located in Scottsdale, AZ this year at the Hotel Valley Ho. The dates for the conference are August 25-27.

Every fourteen years it is the responsibility of the Central Arizona and the Tucson Chapters ASHRAE to host the Region X Chapters Regional Conference. Every chapter sends a Delegate and an Alternate Delegate to its Region’s CRC to actively participate in the orientation session, caucus, executive session, and the business meetings.

With the expectation of welcoming over 200 ASHRAE members, spouses and family members, the chapter is asking for your help to ensure this a successful and memorable event.

There are several ways which you can help the CRC Committee. Frankly, a monetary contribution will overcome the committee’s most pressing needs; however, in-kind contributions to stock the hospitality suite, and volunteers for registration and sessions, are also requested.

Sustaining Membership

If you are a member of ASHRAE, to help with the chapter cash flow and offer members an additional inducement to attend, we urge you to participate in the Sustaining Membership Program. Your Sustaining Membership will allow us to plan effectively and make early commitments for meeting programs. A Sustaining Membership covers all 9 of the lunch meetings for the 2011-2012 season. Sustaining Membership is only offered to members of ASHRAE.

Sustaining Membership price: $200 (only for Members of ASHRAE)

Please send in your payment as soon as you can. You can pay by check in the mail or online using PayPal (fees apply). We have proven in the past that participation by the members in the Sustaining Membership Program pays off in higher quality programming, better attendance and greater participation, all of which are critical to the continued success of the Tucson Chapter.
