Building Information Modeling

Fall is officially here! I hope this message finds all of you happy and healthy. Last month we had an exciting kickoff to yet another ASHRAE season with a roundtable discussion of the newly adopted code. We were thrilled with the great turnout we had at the meeting, and would like to once again thank all of the panel members for their participation and contribution to the meeting. The Sheraton Tucson has provided us with a fantastic space for our lunch meetings for the 2013-14 ASHRAE season, and we look forward to a successful year filled with exciting lunch meeting topics.
If you have not already heard, our first big social event of the season will be the “I-10 TRAP SHOOT CLASSIC” to be held Saturday, November 9th at Casa Grande Trap & Skeet. Shooting will begin at 1:30 pm, with a barbeque to follow at 4:30 pm. The address is 8015 S. Isom Rd in Casa Grande. The cost will be $90 per individual, with company sponsorship opportunities also available. We will be co-hosting this event with the Central AZ chapter, so it will be a great opportunity to expand our horizons and get to know our friends to the north. To register online, or for more information, please visit:  http://centralaz.ashraechapters.org
Our upcoming meeting will be Tuesday, October 8th at the Sheraton Tucson at 12 pm.  Chuck Field will be talking to us about Building Information Modeling. I look forward to seeing you all there!

-Quint Lamoreaux

Topic Description:
We will be reviewing the current procedure on how Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be used to coordinate and interact with the building design and equipment installations. This begins with the information provided by the architect or engineer that can be turned into a fully coordinated model showing all the trades and the equipment installations. BIM can be processed to many different levels, up to and including providing an interactive owner computer model that allows you to click on a component to access manuals, repair information and contacts for service.
