2015: Change, as good as a holiday

In the last newsletter, we mentioned a couple of changes to our format which will make it HEAPS easier and cheaper for all the riders. And we haven't taken the foot off the gas on that, so let me give you an update.

  • currently negotiating with Ibis Budget, potential savings of $40 per room. Stay tuned.
  • only 1 block from the start line!
  • nestled in between KFC and Maccas, seedy riders like Morgo or Stumpy will be excited!

Dinner Venue:

  • currently negotiating with Southern Cross Hotel, which is just down the road from the Ibis.
  • good menu, competitively priced, and drinks won't cost your first-born!
  • bar closes at 3am - so gives us enough time to get back to hotel room, assemble riding gear and head straight to the start line!

Soft Cogs Ball - Sat 22nd August

As mentioned, it's been full steam ahead, and that includes planning of the Soft Cogs Ball. Here's an update:

  • already locked in a sponsor for the Ball, LDE Corp!
  • limited to 180 seats. This WILL sell out so keep an eye out when ticket sales go live

Upcoming Rides

Great work to all the cogs who took on Loop the Lake last weekend, especially those for the first time!

Some rides on the horizon...

Got a favour to ask...

Last year, you may remember there was a shout out for everyone to do that one extra thing, whether it be recruit 1 member, raise an extra 1 hundred dollars... now's the time! Already getting heaps of riders showing intent on riding this year, let's wait till the entries open later in the year.

As a reminder, these were the closing words for 2014...

"We headed into 2014 with faced with a massive challenge. With people losing their jobs in our industry, fundraising would be the last thing on people's minds. Yet we have overcome those challenges, and it's certainly proven to me the selflessness of our riders and supporters.
The reality of Multiple Sclerosis was brought close to home this year, with the husband of one of our much-loved Cogs being diagnosed with MS during the year.
A triumph of 2014 was the kick-starting of our e-commerce. Our online transactions have freed up valuable time for our Committee, which has allowed us to start planning our big event in 2015.  We have also been approached by the Rotary Club of Singleton to assist them with an organised ride. Some exciting times ahead.

2015 heralds our 10 year anniversary. This year we kicked off our "1 in 10" campaign - $1million in 10 years. As unbelievable as 7-straight Tour de France wins - except this one is real.

I'm going to selfishly ask you to step up. Next year I'm asking you to do 1 thing extra. Whether that be send one extra email, recruit one extra person, raise one extra hundred dollars. We have set a big target, and I need your help to get us there. In return, I'll make sure 2015 will be a year you will not forget.

You Soft Cogs are good eggs, I'm proud to stand in front of such a strong and community minded team. Catch you on the road/dirt or over some frothy-chops!

I'm looking forward to 2015, and so should you."
