EASI Connect+Learn: Back to campus series

Over the past two weeks, Connect+Learn hosted 11 sessions to over 650 attendees on popular tools and technologies. Attend upcoming sessions on new and in-demand tools, including QLess, Calendly, Planner, TCard+ for space tracking and Microsoft 365 storage.

Coming soon: eVA guest Wi-Fi service

This fall, the Information Technology Services’ (ITS) Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) team will launch the eduroam Visitor Access (eVA) guest Wi-Fi service. This user-friendly platform will provide secure, high-speed, temporary Wi-Fi internet access to guests visiting the University of Toronto (U of T) campuses.

Weblogin page updated for accessibility

On Aug. 5th, Information Security updated the Weblogin page to better conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG2.0, Level AA). Upgrades include improved keyboard accessibility, colour contrast and screen reader friendliness.

First steps in data driven design with Quercus analytics

Ten U of T instructors from various departments participated in a cohort program to explore the use of Quercus data to inform course design. Visit the Open UToronto website to see the course projects showcase and the final report on program outcomes, prepared by the ITS Digital Learning Innovation team.

This month, IT@UofT People Profiles highlights Alison Dias, Multimedia Specialist, Information and Instructional Technology Services (I&ITS). Alison is an experienced tennis officiant, with multiple Olympic games under her belt.

Blackboard Collaborate services end, effective Aug. 31

As of Aug. 31, 2021, the Blackboard Collaborate webinar service will no longer be available for the U of T community. Collaborate users are encouraged to download and save their recordings before access is revoked. The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation is offering six days of web conferencing clinics for those transitioning to other solutions, which will be available in September.

Preparation for student enrolment 2021 pays off

Several teams and components, including systems testing and security upgrades, are responsible for U of T's successful 2021 student enrolment. This undertaking involved 15 major enrolment days and culminated in peak enrolment day on July 30.

Sitdown with a SOC Star: U of T's Axel Schulz

Axel Schulz, a Canadian Shared Security Operations Centre (CanSSOC) senior security analyst based at U of T, was featured in a Q&A blog series hosted by Siemplify. Alex answers 13 questions about his journey and experience in the security operations world.

Enterprise Modernization Program progress & improvements

Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration (EASI) has completed a massive infrastructure update, which has set the stage for all other future updates. Recently launched projects include the Fiori Launchpad Reporting and updated Expense Reimbursement Direct Deposit (ERDD) web application.

ITIF 2021 now accepting applications

The Instructional Technology Innovation Fund (ITIF) provides opportunities for technology-mediated teaching and learning projects. Attend a Teams drop-in consultation session to receive help with your proposal ideas. The deadline for applications is Nov. 19, 2021.
