Dear <<Salutation>> Reader,

In his closing speech during the last ISC conference in Leipzig, our general chair, Hans Meuer remarked that, “After the conference is before the next conference.” Setting aside Hans’ dry humor, the comment does reflect the nature of our work: the preparations for ISC’14 started within a couple of weeks of mailing the ISC’13 conference proceedings.
ISC 2014 will be held from June 22 to 26, slightly over seven months from now. But since time flies faster than we realize, we thought we would briefly update you on the upcoming event in this newsletter.
We will be working diligently over the next few months to ensure the full program is online when the registration opens in mid-March 2014. The exhibition will also be taking its final shape. Currently almost 80 percent of the booth spaces are sold out.
From now until June, there is still much to do to make ISC’14 happen. We are counting on your help to make this event a success and are looking forward to your suggestions and participation in our tutorials, research paper and poster sessions, birds-of-a-feather (BoF) sessions and more.
We also kindly ask you to promote the event on your website. ISC logos and video are available for download here.
Kind regards,

Martin Meuer

Rick Steves’ Take on Leipzig

The US-based popular travel writer, Rick Steves, who also hosts travel shows on public television and radio, penned a very interesting article on Leipzig a while back. “Located on the way between the former East Germany (Berlin and Dresden) and the former West (Frankfurt and Nurnberg), Leipzig is a bridge between those two worlds,” he writes. “It may lack half-timbered and lederhosen charm, but Leipzig's fascinating history earns it a place on your European bucket list.” To read the entire article, click here.
Leipzig was also voted as the one of the 10 most popular travel destinations in the world by the New York Times in 2011.
