Practicing Life

our January journey

How do we navigate life's ruts & grooves?
How do we get unstuck from pitfalls & patterns?
How does change actually happen?

Jesus invited his followers to live in the fullness of God's kingdom, a vibrant and abundant vision of life amidst a flourishing world.

This Sunday, we'll begin a short journey inviting us deeper into formation & discipleship in the way of Jesus.

Notes from Steward Team

Open Door's Steward Team is a group of women and men commissioned to lead and listen alongside staff on behalf of Open Door. Every few weeks, Steward Team meets to pray and discern over the vision, pace, and direction of our community.

Part of our time together includes space for learning & conversation around faith, leadership, & our cultural landscape.

Here are two articles we recently read & discussed, along with some questions for you to consider!

How to Invite People to Shift from a Fuzzy Paradigm to a Centered Approach (Mark D. Baker)
  • Where is Open Door "fuzzy"?
  • How can we move toward a clarified center?
Why American Go (and Don't Go) to Religious Services (Pew Research Center)
  • Why do we "show up" for a Sunday Gathering? (What values drive our presence?)
  • How might the shape and sound of our Gatherings shift in response to this?

Join a team! Lend a hand!

in one of the following opportunities
  • Gathering Hospitality (1x/month helping create a warm & welcoming atmosphere in our Gathering space)
  • Prayer Team (1x/month leading prayer on behalf of and alongside our community in our Gathering space and praying throughout the weeks/months for Open Door)
  • School Investment Champions (spearheading the next steps in our efforts to be prayerfully and impactfully present in our local schools)

Goodbye Hello!

Recapping Retrospect

The past two Sundays were a celebration and remembrance of all that's transpired and God has done in 2018 and anticipation of what lies ahead in 2019.

As we enter the new year together, we trust and pray for God's guidance for you (as an individual/family) and us (together as Open Door).

May our trust in God's faithfulness deepen in the year ahead!
