Last Sunday, we entered into experiential learning stations based on our journey through Colossians. The sending invitation was to take a word, phrase, or idea from one of the movements/stations and carry it with you through the week:

Built in Christ | Grace and Peace | Rescued
Overflowing with Thankfulness | Bearing Fruit
(or another phrase from the letter!)

Over the next three weeks, we'll move through the remainder of chapter 2, exploring the Letter's invitation to a deep trust in the faithfulness and fullness of Christ. On November 18, Cara Meredith (a long time Friend of Open Door) will join us as a guest teacher!

If you've missed the last couple of weeks, catch up on the podcast and join us as we continue the journey!

A Note from Dave

As this summer came to a close, I reflected on the numerous crises facing our world and how we as a collective of Jesus followers must stand and lean toward the big questions facing our world (see the link to this teaching below).

In order to do this well, we need cohesion and clarity about who we are as a church and what we're called to in the world, so I specifically invited our community into three postures to situate us for the season ahead:
Lean in, Invest, & Invite.

Lean in with your questions, excitement, ideas.
Invest with your time, energy, and finances.
Invite in person & digitally (help us be hospitable).

I've loved seeing the ways we have responded to this invitation! Tangibly, we've had great turnout at our Fall Circles, including our three (re)orient Circles and a continued deep level of involvement across the spectrum of our volunteer leadership roles. Our community finances have stabilized and strengthened, positioning us well to move forward with our full staff team in place. As folks have touch points with Open Door - in our Gatherings, at Circles, or relationally in our neighborhoods - I'm hearing wonderful stories and snapshots of hospitality and welcome.

Thank you for stepping up and saying yes to these invitations! As always, I am grateful and excited to walk forward with you all!

From family-friendly outdoor adventures, contemplative practice, engaging the scriptures, and entering into practice around housing and immigration, our Fall Circles are convening around pressing questions and experimental practice in order to form us to follow Jesus in the world.

One question I'm asking about myself or the world is: I am working on standing on the Solid Rock, submitted to Him, free from the woundedness that has enslaved me my entire life, asking the Spirit to transform me into someone who loves me, God and others.
