    A Novel, A Memoir, A Video… and A Parade
Read Them, Hear Them in CENTRO Voices

The first chapter of a historical novel about a 19th century feminist and freedom fighter set against the backdrop of the struggle for Puerto Rican liberation; a memoir about the forgotten history of an old Miami neighborhood; a discussion about whether the Puerto Rican “brain drain” is fact or fiction; and the history of what is popularly called the Puerto Day Parade – these four compelling stories launch the first edition of Centro’s newly reissued and completely reimagined e-magazine, Centro Voices.

Scheduled to be published twice monthly, the new Voices will feature timely and exciting essays, fiction, memorias, research, opinion, history, poetry and visual art produced by, for and about Puerto Ricans on the U.S. mainland.

Among the many exciting changes in the revised e-magazine, starting on Wednesday, September 3, will be the inclusion of dynamic multimedia pieces (video, audio, photography ).

  • Centro's New Educational Tool
    Highlights Puerto Rican Heritage

Centro’s new Puerto Rican Heritage Poster Series, a collection of five large posters provide a brief historical chronology of Puerto Ricans in the United States and three historical and demographic maps that pictorially reflect Puerto Rican migration. As part of Centro’s Traveling Exhibits program, the posters are available to educational and not-for-profit organizations free as a traveling exhibit. The posters are also available for sale to the general public.

This rich eight-poster heritage series is designed to provide an attractive visual educational tool for teachers and others to use in classrooms or other public spaces, and to introduce students to and interest them in this significant piece of Puerto Rican and American history.
