  • Gilberto Gerena Valentín Launches His Memoirs Book Tour in Puerto Rico

    Centro’s publication Soy Gilberto Gerena Valentín: memorias de un puertorriqueño en Nueva York was presented last Thursday, May 23, at El Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe.

    An energetic, enthusiastic and overtly cheerful Gerena (age 94) shared his memories at the presentation. He stressed "Un pueblo que se moviliza cambia. Y yo voy a seguir dando la pelea hasta que me muera." (Tweeted by GracielaRodzMar). Translated as, “a nation that moves, changes, and I’m going to keep giving the fight until I die.”

  • Centro Seeks Partners For Historical Preservation and Research Partnership Program

    Centro will provide limited funding for partners to collect archival material, conduct research and disseminate information as part of its Historical Preservation and Research Partnership Program for Fall 2013-Spring 2014. Centro seeks proposals from historians and researchers for projects that develop and collect data and/or analyze existing or new materials.

    Fall Application Deadline: 1 August 2013
    Fall Projects Ending: 12 December 2013

    Spring Application Deadline: 1 November 2013
    Spring Projects Ending: 30 June 2014
