Bett 2020
LGfL Stand - NH30

We are looking forward to Bett later this month. The team will be there on stand NH30 so please come along and say hello and let us know how we can further support you in your school. We are also looking forward to the Bett Awards where we have been shortlisted in three categories: Company of the Year (with over £3 million turnover), Secondary Content for Maths in the Real World (MITRW) and Free Digital Content or Open Educational Resources for Supporting a Bereaved Pupil. LGfL are thrilled to once again be one of the companies sponsoring the Friday Social event, after the TeachMeet at TM Bett, 5:30-7:30pm. (N.B.You need to register for Bett in order to attend the Teachmeet which is taking place in the Schools Theatre at Excel). 

The Social - Networking and Drinks is taking place at Tapa Tapa, Western Gateway, E16 1DR (next to the Excel) on Friday 24th from 7:30pm. This informal gathering is a great chance to get talking and share ideas with others in the education community over a drink or two.

XMA and Google invite you to join them at the BETT show in January 2020. 

Along with Neverware, BenQ, Acer and EdTechTeam they have two days of engaging interactive sessions on a variety of Google for Education solutions to equip you on your journey with Chrome in the classroom held at the Google BETT Suite. These are great sessions led by teachers around the best way of integrating Google cloud solution in to your schools.

LGfL Digital Excellence Awards 2020

Bookings are now open for our annual Safeguarding Conference and will soon be open for the Let’s Get Digital Conference (Thursday 23rd April). We will let you know when booking details for this are released.

Friday 6th March - the SafeConf full agenda now includes a real-life CSE story and the latest in safeguarding issues around money mules and hacking and the conference is aimed at Designated Safeguarding Leads but would also benefit Online Safety/RSHE/PSHE Leads (in the run up to September 2020 and the new statutory requirements for RSE curriculum in schools). LGfL Annual Conference 2020
We are now accepting entries for the Digital Excellence Awards 2020; these awards celebrate best practice and innovative approaches in using the wide range of learning resources and services provided by LGfL.

This year we have included a cash prize of £1000 in addition to the physical award and an image you can display on your school website. You can enter by clicking the links next to each category. The closing date for entries is 28th February 2020.

Audio Network
In last month’s Newsletter we informed you that Audio Network had been updated. We hope you are enjoying the new look and feel. In order to access this when not on the school network (ie from home or elsewhere) then please complete the Headteacher Declaration Data release  - required for the USO log in system to work with Audio Network. Click here for simple summary guide on how to configure access via the LGfL USO log in.

Maths Week London

Maths Week London’s mission is to ignite a love of maths in children across the capital. Numeracy is a vital skill and we believe it can and should be enjoyable, relatable and accessible. Working with schools and families, Maths Week London aims to: 

improve children’s confidence in mathematics and encourage a positive attitude

demonstrate to children the value of maths as a lifelong skill by linking it to the wider world around them

encourage all children to develop their maths skills and become confident mathematicians

Pledge 2020

300 schools have been upgraded to new Pledge 2020 bandwidths. The average increase is over 150%. 500 schools have had an average 33% upgrade to take them to the limit of current equipment ahead of Pledge 2020. Upcoming Training and Events

We have updated our training portal ready for the Spring term. Training is *FREE* for all LGfL teachers (ie it is included in the school’s Let’s Get Digital Subscription) and is held at LGfL HQ, Liverpool Street, on a Tuesday at Camden CLC, or at one of our partner venues. You can find out more about the courses on offer and how to sign up here.

We have added Primary Curriculum Design: Maximising the Use of LGfL Resources on the 29th January as we are aware many schools are redesigning and refreshing their school curriculum currently.
