Vale, Dorothy Newland

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Mandurah artist and friend Dorothy Newland, who passed peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, 14 August 2018. As a CASM volunteer, Dorothy’s support for the staff, gallery and its programs was unshakable and sincere. Dorothy’s intelligence, wisdom, sparkling wit, generosity, kindness and humour will be sadly missed and lovingly celebrated and remembered.

Free Youth Workshop

Creative Reuse in Wearable Art (18 Years & Under)
Following the success and the number of Youth entrants in the 2018 competition, Jodie Davidson will again present a series of three workshops to present practical instructions and ideas to plan and create a wearable art garment.  Read more.

Wearable Art Mandurah Exhibition

Presented by Act-Belong-Commit
Initially mistaken for a worksite, this year’s Wearable Art Exhibition stuns viewers with its scaffolding framework. View these revolutionary works of art up close and personal to appreciate the unusual choice of materials and level of skill that sits behind these extraordinary wearable art pieces and join the exhibition artists as they discuss their processes and materials on the final exhibition day.

When: Until Sunday, 9 September (gallery opening hours: Wed - Fri, 10am - 4pm)
Where: CASM Gallery - 63 Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah

Artist Talks with the Wearable Art Designers

What is it made of?  What was the inspiration?  How long did it take?  What techniques were used? Join the exhibiting designers in an informal gallery tour as they answer all these questions, and more on the last day of the exhibition. Afternoon tea will be provided.

When: Sunday, 9 September at 2 pm
Where: CASM Gallery - 63 Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah

Wearable Art Mandurah:
A Retrospective 2011 - 2018

Presented by Act-Belong-Commit
Look how far we have come! This exhibition presents one Wearable Art Mandurah garment from each year, 2011 – 2018, celebrating the journey from a small local competition to the premiere wearable art event in Australia. Read more.

Windfall | Chemistry of the Dye Pot
Fri, 5 Oct - Sun, 4 Nov

Windfall | Chemistry of the Dye Pot is the culmination of Helen Coleman’s two year residency at CASM. In this exhibition she shares the results of her experiments into the colour chemistry of local native plants, and gives visitors a rare opportunity to see the processes behind the creation of unique natural dyes, ecoprints and lake pigments.

Gift Shop Gander - Featured artist, Alana Grant

Each month, CASM highlights one artist with items currently available in the Gift Shop. Alana works predominantly in ceramic sculpture, but often expands her practice into cross disciplinary forms such as photography, drawing, painting and ephemeral art. The concepts behind her art practice vary depending on what is relevant at the time personally, politically, environmentally and socially. Read more

Life Drawing Evenings

Now available fortnightly at CASM!

Gather your charcoal and inks together for the new life drawing evenings beginning at CASM in September. Nil, mild or in-depth facilitation available depending on individual needs.

When: Starting Tues, 4 September - 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Where: CASM Workshop Space - 63 Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah
Cost: $25 (incl. models and refreshments) -  BYO drawing boards and supplies.
