Heat: A Fire Cabaret
Our super hot summer show was a wild success.  Thank you to everyone for your support and help in keeping the creative fires burning.  We’ll be continuing to post some of the amazing images from our first ever Fire Cabaret.

Classes To Spark Up Your Summer

For Kids
There is one more week of Fired Up Youth Summer Camps remaining, so if your kids are getting a little antsy, sign them up now for hands-on arts activities. We’re registering now for the August 2-6 session, with classes such as:

For younger students (8-11)Mudslinging Madness, Clay Mask Making, Jazzy Clay Jewelry, Wire Jewelry, Extreme Gizmos, Soft Circuits, Super Sculpture, Cartoneria, Woodcarving

Summer Fun for Adults  
Take a “make-ation” and get creative in a week-long workshop this year.  There are two sessions coming up, August 9-13 and August 23-27, each with great introductory classes like Blacksmithing, Foundry Fundamentals, Glass Flameworking, Intro to Jewelry & Metals, Intro to Welded Sculpture, Intro to MIG Welding, Beginning Woodworking, and the brand new Electronic Control of Flame Effects.

Family Fun Weekend –  August 21-22
Here’s a great way to get hands-on together before sending the kids back to school.  Spend a weekend challenging yourself to learn a new skill and make something to be proud of. Family Fun classes are open to anyone 12 years and up, and tuition is discounted when you sign up and take a class together.  Beginning classes include Blacksmithing, Glass Flameworking, Jewelry, Neon, Welded Sculpture, MIG Welding, TIG Welding, and Woodturning.

Call For Youth Art
Our next Cathedral Gallery show is called Flamboastin' - Bay Area Youth Flaunting their Sculptural Explorations, and will highlight art by Bay Area youth.  If you are 8 to 17 (or know someone who is) and would like to submit one or more pieces to our Bay Area youth sculpture show, the deadline for submission is July 30th, 2010.

Community Shout-Outs
The Flux Foundation is an Oakland-based non-profit arts organization that engages people in designing and building large-scale, community-based public art, with a particular interest in empowering women. They are working on a big project and invite volunteers to participate in a supportive hands-on educational environment for all genders.
