How much do you love the Christmas story? Have you ever wanted to know more about it, appreciate its significance for the first audience hearing it? Join our Advent book study "Light of the World" written by Jewish scholar and professor Amy Jill Levine. Amy calls herself the "unorthodox orthodox Jewish scholar" which is a fun way to say that she practices Judaism but teaches to and for both Jewish and Christian audiences. I appreciate her scholarship, humor, and the videos I have watched of her in this series and I cannot wait to join together in this study. Together with Amy and all of you, I believe we will grow in understanding, cultural and religious awareness, and our faith around these wonderful Christmas stories that are all about Jesus who is the "Light of the World. ~Pastor Nick |

| Family PromiseOur virtual host week is coming to an end, Dec. 5 - 12, and in lieu of on-site dinners, activities, and overnight support, Family Promise is requesting gift cards from Tops and Wal-Mart so families can purchase their own food supplies. Cards or monetary donations can be mailed to Family Promise 185 N Main St Canandaigua 14424 attn: Dave Simmons. Many thanks to all those who donated to a Family Promise family we adopted for the Christmas season, so our church could purchase gifts for the two children and parents. We collected close to $400 and bought clothes, toys, and gift cards to make their Christmas season that much merrier! Thanks again! Speaking of the Christmas season, thanks to Nancy & Bruce Fisher and Barb Cromwell who helped decorate the FP Day Center this past week! Family Promise staff and guests were very appreciative of the Christmas trees, mantle decorations and wreaths that were put on display! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all for helping homeless children and their families in Ontario County! God Bless, Rich Cromwell |
