In this edition we bring you our news from the UK, South Korea, Laos and the Persian Gulf.

In the UK, WWTC has completed a project for Environment Agency to create 38 ha of habitat suitable for wintering Wigeon. The project has already proved successful with 500 Wigeon using the site along with a range of other species. Read more about it here

June saw the completion of the first stage of the masterplanning process for a 1,400 ha public park complex in South Korea. When completed, this will provide a valuable resource for the residents of Busan City and the wildlife of the Nakdong River. Read more about it here

In Laos, the consultancy continued its work with WWT, WWF and the local community to improve the water quality of the That Luang Marsh. This project should result in increased quality of life for the local community and wildlife of the area. Read more about it here or here to see a video of the pollution

WWT Consulting undertook waterbird surveys on an island in the Persian Gulf destined for tourism development. This allowed us to make recommendations on how to minimise disturbance of the birdlife and assess the feasibility of encouraging Greater Flamingos to breed at this unique location.
