Working for Natural England, we have recently completed the Common Standards Monitoring of 340 ha of wet grassland on the Ouse Washes, Norfolk, UK. This work allows Natural England to assess the condition of these Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Click here to find out more.
WWT Consulting's wetland treatment system for landfill leachate at Shaw Forest Park, Swindon, is now operational. A settlement pond, wet grassland and a range of wetland communities were incorporated to maximize treatment and attenuate storm water. The design incorporates public access to the site and a pond at the outfall which will be planted and maintained by local community groups. Click here to find out more.
Closer to home, the consultancy has assisted the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in preparing a funding bid for new exhibits at their Slimbridge site. This included the production of concept designs and images. The first of these exhibits, have now opened to the public. Click here to find out more.
In September, the East Asia Wise-Use Workshop was held in South Korea. Staff involved in wetland management from 15 countries attended and WWT Consulting was there to run training workshops on wetland restoration approaches and techniques.
