SWE-RMS Quarterly Newsletter

SWE-RMS has been busy hosting social and professional development events for our members and engineering partners, providing outreach activities for local students, and has continued engaging in community service. Like many in our community, Covid-19 has certainly changed the way we carry out our day-to day operations, and the interest of our members and support from our corporate partners enabled us to adapt and continue providing quality opportunities via a virtual platform. We would like to take a moment to highlight some of the ongoing opportunities and upcoming events planned for Q1 of 2021. If you or your company would like to support SWE-RMS in any capacity, please contact our Corporate Partnership Chair, Jannine Rouw or swerms@gmail.com. A copy of our 2021 SWE-RMS brochure has been included if you would like more detailed information about annual opportunities.

Meet the SWE-RMS Corporate Partnership Chair

Hello, my name is Jannine Rouw and I am your Corporate Partnership Chair for FY21. SWE-RMS is excited to start sending out quarterly newsletters in hopes of keeping you informed on the section’s latest news and upcoming professional and community engagements. Whether it be gathering a cohort of volunteers from your organization, sponsoring local events, or participating as a guest speaker, I would love to speak with you to better understand your organization’s priorities when it comes to supporting diversity in STEM fields, and connect you with the most relevant opportunities within SWE-RMS. I realize you may not be the correct person to receive email correspondence from us, so feel free to redirect to a preferred point of contact within your organization. Please reach out with any questions you may have at jannine.vela@gmail.com.

GESTEM

We are excited to continue expanding the impact on local middle school students through our annual Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (GESTEM) event. The all-day event encourages young women to see the role that diversity and inclusion has on innovation and exposes them to the exciting possibilities of STEM careers through hands-on workshops. The health and safety of our GESTEM participants and volunteers continues to be our top priority. As such, GESTEM is moving to a virtual platform this year and will be held on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. If you or your company is interested in helping support GESTEM, please click here or email swe.gestem@gmail.com to find out more.
