On May 14th, Robin Hood Foundation and X PRIZE announced they are joining forces to launch a series of competitions designed to attack the root causes of poverty in New York City and the world. NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams and Robin Hood founder Paul Tudor Jones, II hosted the event, which raised $19 million towards Robin Hood X PRIZEs, and featured amazing performances by Rihanna and Neil Young. On April 20 and 21, X PRIZE brought together global innovators, philanthropists and thought leaders in Los Angeles for our annual Visioneering summit where 130 leaders from technology, entertainment, politics, business, and science gathered to solve the world's Grand Challenges. Prize ideas were discussed and voted on and the winner was, “Ed-U-Phone,” an edutainment concept that involves kids having to pass tests in order to unlock the phone and keep it active.  Learn More>>

Funded by a generous grant from Dr. Dick Merkin, President and CEO of the Heritage Provider Network, X PRIZE is sponsoring the Global Innovation Award, which will recognize the top entries of 20,000 teams of young inventors who have applied outstanding creativity in solving a challenge around food safety. The award will be given out at a ceremony at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia on June 19th.  Learn More>>
