A Budget for the People of BC
British Columbians have made their priorities clear. People are frustrated after years of rising living costs, dwindling services, and fewer opportunities. They expect this government to take action to make life better and that’s exactly what we’re doing.  Making life more affordable was front and centre in February’s Throne Speech and Budget.

Budget 2018 carves a new path to shared prosperity for people in the Kootenays and across our province with a made-in-BC child care plan, a comprehensive housing plan and record levels of capital investment in every corner of our province. We're providing funding to protect our province’s indigenous languages and will inject more money into our schools. We’re supporting a strong Kootenay economy by promoting and increasing funding to the agriculture, arts, and post-secondary education sectors. You can read more in my quarterly column.
Mining Day in BC
On Mining Day I was pleased to announce that, as Minister for Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources, I have established a B.C. Mining Jobs Task Force that will identify ways to strengthen this important industry in BC. Over the coming months, the B.C. Mining Jobs Task Force will work with First Nations, workers, the mining industry and communities to develop recommendations on possible actions government could take to bring more certainty to the mining sector and create good jobs for people today, tomorrow and beyond.
