New York City's First Curbside Electric Vehicle Charger Is Open!
On Thursday, June 24th, New York City Department of Transportation and partners unveiled the first curbside Level 2 electric vehicle charger as part of their city-wide pilot. The EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) FLO EV charging unit is now available for use by the public in the Norwood neighborhood of the Bronx.

Huge congratulations to the project team, including Con Edison and others as they gear up to add a total of 100 public curbside EVSE across New York City.

Empire Clean Cities is excited to welcome our summer Clean Cities Intern, Jeanette Castillo! Jeanette recently graduated from Muhlenberg College with a B.A in International Studies with a concentration in International Environmental Problems and a minor in Latin American & Caribbean Studies. Jeanette is passionate about promoting sustainability and promoting social and racial justice to vulnerable communities who are greatly affected by climate change. Welcome aboard!

Calling all Long Island EV driver to enter the "I Love My EV" video contest by Wednesday, June 30th! EV drivers (who are PSEG Long Island customers) can submit a photo and video testimonial letting us know why you love your electric vehicle. All entries have the chance to win a $500 Amazon Gift Card.

What: Electric School Bus Demonstration
When: Tuesday, June 29, 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Join Live Green CT in Stratford and/or Hamden, Connecticut TODAY for an electric school bus demonstration event including technical information outlining the importance of electric school buses and the opportunity to ride on an electric school bus. The Stratford event begins at 9:30 AM and the Hamden event begins at 1:00 PM.
What: New York International Auto Show
When: August 20- August 29, 2021

It's on! After a year-long postponement, the New York International Auto Show is back in August 2021 at the Javits Center. The New York International Auto Show showcases more than four floors of displays from the world’s automakers feature the newest vehicles and latest futuristic concept cars-- with the newest and most exciting EV models to date. What: NYC Parks 32nd Annual Equipment & Vehicle Show
DATE CHANGE: Wednesday, September 22, 2021

NYC Fleet will be hosting the 32nd Annual Equipment and Vehicle Show on Wednesday, September 22nd in Flushing Meadows Park.
It is a free event and all are welcome. Save the date and stay tuned for more information about our Empire Clean Cities Annual Stakeholder meeting held in conjunction with the day’s activities. Learn more here.

Funding Opportunities

U.S. DOT Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to apply for $1 billion in discretionary grant funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grants. Deadline to apply: July 12th, 2021.
NYSERDA Clean Transportation Prize funding will support electrifying transportation, reducing air pollution, and enhancing clean mobility in disadvantaged communities across New York. Deadline to register as a team: July 22nd, 2021.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments released an RFP for Freight Vehicle Intersection Optimization Services. Deadline to apply: July 23rd, 2021.
Provides 50/50 matching grants to New York cities, towns, villages, and counties for eligible climate change mitigation, adaptation, and planning and assessment projects. Deadline to apply: July 30th, 2021.
Supports projects that strengthen and modernize port infrastructure and shore-side wind energy projects. Deadline to apply: July 30th, 2021.
New York State Volkswagen Settlement Funds: Current Programs
Rebate incentive funding is now available for fleets and businesses in NYC Industrial Business Zones (IBZs) for the replacement of older, diesel-fueled trucks with alternative fuel or electric vehicle technologies. Funding available from $12,000 to $185,000 per truck replacement, depending on fuel type and truck class size.
NYTVIP provides vouchers to fleets across New York State for the replacement of older diesel vehicles with the purchase or lease of electric, conventional hybrid electric, compressed natural gas, or propane medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Voucher amounts are based on a percentage of the incremental cost of the vehicle.
