News

Destinations for all website snipA World for Everyone. Declaration from the World Summit Destinations for All Montreal, 2014. Here we present the official version of the Summit Declaration, expressing the participants' support for the UNWTO Recommendations on Accessible Tourism. The document also proposes a new World Network for Accessible Tourism, to work towards common principles and standards in the tourism industry and develop and promote good practices. 

Call for abstracts Special Issue: The Future of Accessible Tourism. Journal of Tourism Futures. This special issue is designed to examine the intersection of disability and tourism that has seen the development of the emerging field of Accessible Tourism. The Special Issue will explore current theoretical approaches, foundations and issues in the study of Accessible Tourism from a futures perspective. Submit your abstract today: 10th November or as soon as possible. 

SWISS: World’s First Certified “Allergy-friendly” Airline. Catalonia, Recognised for its Work Advocating Accessible Tourism. Catalonia has been recognised at London’s World Travel Market for its work advocating accessible tourism and has garnered First Prize in Europe’s CHARTS awards for its work fostering cultural and sustainable tourism.

The Contest is on for the ZVSHK Bathroom for All Product Award 2015. The ZVSHK Bathroom for All Product Award 2015 promotes new, innovative approaches to sustainable, comfortable building and dwelling in the context of demographic change. Deadline for submissions is 14 November 2014.

  Public Consultation: European Commission Green Paper on the Safety of Tourism Accommodation Services. The objective of this consultation is to gather input and quantifiable evidence from all relevant parties with an aim to evaluate fundamental aspects related to tourism accommodation safety

Pantou.org - The European Accessible Tourism Directory. This EU Commission supported website, managed by ENAT, brings together accessible suppliers and visitors. If you are an accessible tourism supplier, register now to reach a wider market. 
 

Events

Accessible Tourism in Europe and Portugal - Clues and Challenges. Lisbon and Vilamura, 13 and 14 November 2014. As part of the Framework Agreement between Turismo de Portugal and ENAT, three Technical Meetings will be held with tourist companies and public authorities in Lisbon and the Algarve, addressing the state-of-the-art in Accessible Tourism, examining Portuguese examples of good practice and defining lines of development for destinations and businesses.

1st UNWTO European Conference on Accessible Tourism, San Marino. 19 November 2014. Policies and measures to promote universal accessibility in tourism will be at the centre of the 1st UNWTO European Conference on Accessible Tourism jointly organized by UNWTO and the Government of the Republic of San Marino.

1st Izmir EURO-MENA Accessible Tourism for All Forum and Expo 2014. Izmir-Cesme, Turkey, 28 to 30 November 2014.  An international Forum under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Izmir Regional and other major sponsors, with the collaboration of the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT) and ENAT-MENA Regional office.

5 Dec 2014. Accessible Tourism: Innovative approaches between accessibility and heritage protection Brussels. A conference organised by European Foundation Centre and Committee of the Regions, dealing with the challenges of protecting the historical heritage and providing accessibility for all.

ICAT 2014 5th International Conference on Accessible Tourism - “Tourism For All”.  Kuala Lumpur, 4 to 7 December 2014.  Beautiful Gate Foundation for The Disabled, together with Disabled People International Asia Pacific, JICA Malaysia and 16 disabilities related NGOs are proud to organize the Pro-ICAT Event with the theme “Accessible Tourism Promotes National Development” in conjunction with International Day of Disabled Persons 2014.

Disabled Access Day, 17 January 2015, in Britain and elsewhere. Get out there and try something new! Disabled Access Day is all about getting out and visiting a venue that you’ve never been to before - whether a cinema, coffee shop, sports centre or anywhere else.
