2010 Here We Go!
Starting Studio Eriksdotter has been a long time dream of mine, and I couldn't be more thrilled that it became a reality this past summer. What an amazing time these last six months have been. I’m floored; and think, this is only the beginning!
The Year That WasI participated in three shows in 2009: Art on the Avenue, TJ Gift Show and House of Sweden. All were great learning experiences where I met wonderful people. It is really neat when visitors point out their favorite painting or stationary, want to hear the story behind a painting, the technique used or just want to discuss their love for art in general.
During my last show, I sat and painted the whole time. That was a hit among many, young and old. This is definitely something I'm going to consider doing at future shows. I also saw familiar faces at each show as family and friends came to see me and my latest pieces. Studio Eriksdotter has a wonderful cheering squad! Thank you.
Another dream that came true this past year was having my own stationary. I absolutely love and appreciate good stationary. So, it was important to me to find the right paper - both to beautifully display and enhance my art, and to be nice to write on at the same time.
After a successful test period, new stationary is on its way!
Commissioned WorkI had the pleasure of doing some commissioned art pieces in the past few months, the latest being a Christmas gift for a new bride! A friend of mind wanted to surprise his new wife of just two months for Christmas and commissioned a painting of her bridal bouquet, which I happily painted! What a romantic gift! See the blog for a photo of the newlyweds and the actual bouquet. Another commissioned art piece is featured at the top of this newsletter, the "Sunflower Rising."
If you are interested in a custom order to brighten up your wall or to give as a gift for a loved one or a friend, please contact me.
Some of my goals for 2010 are:
I also hope to add some larger paintings to my collection this year. As a painter I have always been nervous doing larger canvases but that went out the door this year. No holds barred. Now, I’m excited to see how big I can go! Besides larger paintings, I’m adding a variety of sizes and already have a few ideas for some new motifs, besides flowers.
- To continue painting for the love of painting.
- To participate in 5-7 art shows.
- To increase traffic to the Web site.
- To get 500 fans on Facebook. Impossible? Never!
Shows will start to pick up in May and I hope to be ready with lots of new inventory by then. Since I sell originals and no reproductions, it takes me some time to build up my inventory, which makes for a colorful Spring! I'll be sure to keep you updated.
