2020 Vision Capital Campaign

Dear Fellow Parishioners

This is the sixth installment of a quarterly newsletter relevant to our 2020 Vision Capital Campaign in order to communicate transparent and up-to-date financial expenditures and activities associated with your faithful participation in this program.

A review of activities since the last newsletter follows:

Short Term

  1. Seven more Memorial Pavers for the labyrinth have been ordered, and $2,700 have been raised towards ongoing Labyrinth expenses. Proceeds from this program are used for the installation of landscaping and lighting, and, to date, $3,400 have been received for Labyrinth pavers and are included in the total received/transferred mentioned earlier.
  2. Landscaping in the Labyrinth continued, and all of the 50 new plants (shrubbery) have survived the transplant. Ongoing work is to provide for proper irrigation and fertilization.
  3. A new 21-inch Toro Rotary Lawn Mower with a special mulching blade was purchased and is currently stored in the garage with a “Do Not Use” sign on it.
Medium Term

  1. The renovation/upgrading of restrooms is still in contemplation. The Vestry at their June 2, 2019, meeting opted to “fall back”, review what had been proposed, and derive a unified set of specifications to present to potential bidders in the near future.
  2. Renovations/upgrading of the Field Building kitchen are also in the negotiation stage and will hopefully be resolved concomitant with the restroom renovations in the near future.
Long Term

  1. Permit applications for Phase I of the parking lot improvements are underway.
In the meantime, ‘short term’ activities continue primarily consisting of the day-in and day-out challenges associated with making our campus more accommodating and safer.

One paramount and immediate issue is to investigate and act on a security system for our campus. This is in light of the recent misfortune that occurred on Sunday July 14, 2019, wherein a member of our Vestry was assaulted late that afternoon.

These type activities fall under the purview of the Vestry’s Buildings and Grounds Ministry in accordance with the regular Church maintenance budget.

Please let your Vestry members know if you have any questions or need further amplification on any aspect of this campaign.

Very Respectfully

John Ritner
