MARK 13:1-8

As Jesus came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings!” Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.”

When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign that all these things are about to be accomplished?” Then Jesus began to say to them, “Beware that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birthpangs.”

From “. . . But how do we test the truthfulness of our spiritual leaders? The best way is to compare their claims to the teachings of Jesus. Do their teachings agree with what Jesus taught?”

The annual parish meeting will be Sunday, November 18, 2018, following the 10:30 am worship. We will elect vestry members and briefly discuss church business. After the BRIEF meeting, we will have a parish covered dish lunch. Bring yourself for the meeting and conversation; bring food to  share.

Two things for November

[last post] First, a diocesan-wide event: Let's make Thanksgiving a real thanksgiving by participating in the United Thank Offering challenge. Each week will be a somewhat different focus. We will present that information in our weekly newsletter. All will begin on November 1, with daily reminders of how we may be thankful. So, every day in November, there will be a post on our Facebook Group page so be sure to be a member (go to This will culminate on Thanksgiving day. And there are crafts for young ones so keep eyes peeled.

Second, November 1 is All Saints Day (which we will celebrate at worship on November 4th. Just to remind you of who the saints are, here's a daily calendar ( November 2018. There will be a daily post to the Facebook Group page to acquaint you with the saints included in our special litany.

Update: Are you participating in the UTO challenge? How many saints do you know now?

The purpose is, of course, to enrich your journey. Feel free to comment on the Facebook Group page.

GEMS will meet @ 7pm on Friday Nov 30th in the Field Bldg.  GEMS is a purely social event open to ALL adults in the church. BYOB and a covered dish to share. Appetizers will be provided by this month’s hosts, Marsha & Jim Dent and Karen & Blount Shepard.  If possible, let Marsha (816-5020), Karen (749-9839), or the church office know that you plan to attend so hosts can estimate how many to set up for.

Sharing God's Love

Hello Faithful Supporters:
Thank you so much for all you do for Sharing God's Love.  We so appreciate it and God bless each of you.
We know these needs are the same but they are still current.  Thank you for helping.
We have had tremendous support for our Building Campaign, however, our funding for our utilities assistance program is in much need.  We would appreciate any help you can provide.  With this program, we are able to keep the lights on for our families in crisis.  Thanking you in advance for your help.
Our needs:  jelly, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, winter clothing for children
Many, many thanks.
