OTHER INFORMATION:
Attendance at pre-race meetings is mandatory. Each contestant must have a US Coast Guard approved PFD in their craft at all times while competing in paddling Events.
Inclement Weather: Before Event starts, if thunder is heard and/or lightning seen from an approaching thunderstorm, the racers, race helpers, and spectators shall take proper shelter and wait until immediate threat has dissipated or Race HQ has issued the ALL CLEAR. Once a race has started, if lightning is seen and/or you hear loud thunder; get off the water immediately and seek proper shelter. In the event of a WEATHER EMERGENCY the race may be called off and the race clocks may be stopped.
Waiver of Liability: All racers/participants must read, understand and sign a Waiver to be allowed to compete in any of the Events associated with the PowerPaddle. You will not be allowed to participate if you have not completed a valid waiver.
ALTERNATIVE WATER PLAN:
Due to Croton Dam improvements currently taking place, the normal portage from Croton Pond down to the Muskegon River (West side) has been closed. A temporary portage has been created on the East side of the river, however, that may be too small to conduct the PowerPaddle race. Race officials from the MCRA will determine if in fact this portage will be sufficient for the racers. If the portage cannot be utilized for PowerPaddle, the alternative water plan would be to start all racers below the dam at Tailwater Park (just off Croton Drive below the dam). Racers would assemble at Tailwater Park instead of DuChemin Park for registration, racer meetings and race start. The finish line and all other aspects of the race would remain unchanged.
