I am ME
Hello Friends & Readers!

I'm super happy to report that my ear infection has finally healed and I'm feeling more like my old self. Hallelujah!

This week on the podcast I interviewed Heather Crosby, the super awesome lady behind the wellness site (& now book) YumUniverse. In the interview she and I talk about labels, and why she calls her approach and lifestyle "plant powerful" instead of vegetarian (or something similar). The reason, in her case at least, is because when you choose a label to describe how you eat, two things happen. One, there may be political or social attachments to that word, which can give it a negative charge. Two, by choosing a label you are also closing yourself off to expansion and exploration. It made a lot of sense to me. AND, it got me thinking.

Put yourself in a room full of people you've never met where you are asked to describe yourself. What comes to mind? Likely, a string of labels as long as your arm with which you self-identify: parent, wife, entrepreneur, etc. Yeah. Me too. We're complicated beings, and we label ourselves many ways in order to describe who we are (these are different than roles or responsibilites; I am solely referring to the words we universally use to describe WHO or WHAT we are). But consider this: most if not all of those labels come with baggage (just like Heather's earlier example of vegetarianism), which unbeknownst to you can affect how you feel, and how you might view yourself. We all feel the need to fit in, and labels help us do that. But what if they are also denying us expansion or expression? What if they constrict our potential to evolve?

So, who am I? Well, that question defies an answer, because it changes every day. But at my core, I am only myself, and whatever that means I'm actually just discovering. I've been giving this new lens a try in my thoughts and meditations, and I can already feel the effects. I feel lighter, more flexible, and somehow less stressed. I've given myself the breadth I needed to spread out and not fit into any box or explain who I am (mostly to myself). Give it a try for yourself and let me know what happens. I'd really, truly, love to know.

With thanks and gratitude,
Celine

WHAT LISTENERS ARE SAYING:

"I listened to this podcast this morning while at my early morning gym session. I'm not a morning person (or a gym person come to that) but listening to this podcast was so inspirational and positive. My favourite part? Well that had to be the mindset of adding more good foods to your diet rather than beating yourself up about the changes you haven't made (yet). It's a lifestyle change, not a fad—that takes time. This was 'real' and so down to earth."
