Parent Chat with Miss Sue

What parenting questions do you have? What social/emotional questions do you have? What Montessori academic questions do you have? How can you implement more Montessori methods at home?

Miss Sue, a veteran teacher of children and adults, holds two American Montessori Society credentials and is a Parent Talk certified trainer.  Many of you have enjoyed her Parent Talk class. She is currently offering teaching her fourth course.

She is excited to also offer Parent Chat on Tuesday mornings at 8:45am. This is an informal time to chat with Miss Sue, ask her questions, and enjoy some tea or coffee in our foyer. These chats are offered as a free service and are open to everyone.

Thank you!

Thank you to our Montessori dads who helped run all the games for Family Game Night, to Chelsea Cloeter for coordinating the entire event, and to the PTO for sponsoring such a fun night.

Speaking of Montessori Dads...

The faculty went to see Trevor Eissler this week. He wrote the book, "Montessori Madness: A Parent to Parent Argument." He writes from a Montessori dad point of view. Please check out the book.

Montessori dads are encouraged to check out Trevor's website:
Montessori Madmen

We also encourage all Dads to come observe in the classrooms! Anytime that fits into your schedule will typically work just fine with us...please check with your child's teachers to set a time.

CLICK HERE to read Jason Wells-Jensen's first hand account of his experience visiting the Upper Elementary classroom last week.

Of course, moms are encouraged to observe too!

Gala Planning Meeting

Our Annual Montessori Gala is schedule for the evening of Saturday, February 23rd.

It is the single biggest event income source for the school and is very important to raise funds to keep tuition as low as possible and to provide the services for our children at a very high level of quality.

That being said, the Gala committee can determine the proceeds of the event, provided they are capital expenses in the budget. In past years, it has helped fund arts/music programming (salaries of those teachers), building funds (furnaces, etc.) and maintenance issues (new carpeting, etc.)

The Gala this year will take place in a different room at Nazareth Hall than ever before and we are very open to new ideas and thoughts. We do not have to follow traditions of the past.

This is very fun and for a great cause so please consider: -Attending our first planning meeting on Thursday, October 18 at 8:45am (right after drop off)
-Sharing your ideas with myself (jessica@montessorischoolbg.org) or Meg (meg@montessorischoolbg.org)!

Thanks so much, Jess
