School Closings and Delays

MSBG does NOT follow any other district. Should we delay or close, you will be notified by 6:30am by email and it will be posted on Facebook & Twitter. Closings are also listed on TV channels 11 & 13.

MSBG Library

Investigate the library: Check out books!

The MSBG library committee was hard at work over the summer. New books were catalogued and shelved in accordance with the Dewey Decimal system.  A reorganization project unveiled a streamlined, efficient and friendly space to explore reading materials.  Many MSBG students enjoy visiting the library before leaving school at the end of the day. When you accompany your child, you will see a row of red binders with classroom labels.

To check out materials:

  1. Find student’s class binder.
  2. Fill in student's check-out sheet.
  3. Return books to bins.

A parent-teacher library, located on the wall next to the extended care room, is available for use by all our families. Record your book selections on your child’s log page in the red binders also. Enjoy your adventures in the library!

School Picture Day is next Wednesday, September 10!
Some helpful notes:
  • Each child needs his/her own form.
  • Sibling pictures need a separate form and will be taken at 2pm. (extra copies in foyer)
  • Photography will begin at 9am with the youngest students and work through the oldest by lunchtime.
  • Classroom composite pictures can be ordered as an add-on item, 8x10, $9
  • Asset Ware is the company. info@assetware.com

The Black Swamp Arts Festival is this weekend. Click HERE for more information. There are a multitude of activities, and many of our Montessori circle members are actively participating, including:

Northwest Ohio's premier ukulele quartet, the Grande Royale Ãœkulelists of the Black Swamp (Geoff Howes, Anne Kidder, and MSBG parents Jason and Sheri Wells-Jensen), will be performing next Saturday (Sept 6) at 2:40 pm on the Family Entertainment Stage at the Black Swamp Arts Festival!

The Black Swamp Children's Poetry Project this Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, from 11-4:00pm. Students in the English Honor Society are collaborating with creative writers from Prairie Margins (the undergraduate journal) and Mid-American Review (the professional journal) are presenting this activity.

We will give children ages 2-12 something to learn, something to make, and something to take, as we teach them to write their own haikus and encourage them to discuss the process writing poetry.

If you are at the Black Swamp Arts Festival please be sure to stop by our tent (near the children's area by the Wood County Library) and compose your own haiku.

A Family Therapy Program (8-10 sessions) is being offered at BGSU’s Psychological Services Center (PSC) in the Psychology Department from Sept-Dec 2014 for children (ages 3-8) with behavioral issues. The program is designed to help parents help their children gain skills to be calmer, happier, more cooperative and self-confident, and exhibit more self-control. It is intended for families with children who struggle with problems such as being disobedient, refusing to follow rules, emotional struggles, poor self-esteem, anger issues, and difficulties getting along with others. The program is suitable for children with ODD or ADHD symptoms, but not restricted such children. Each family will work with their own therapist.  Families will be enrolled during September and have weekly sessions till mid-December. Cost is $10/session.
