Being citizens of the world, is an important part of our Montessori Community and service learning is a wonderful avenue for them to get involved.  Service learning allows students immediate opportunities to apply classroom learning to support local agencies that exist to effect positive change in the community.

The students are already involved in several opportunities this year.  Some include:

*Peace Pals
*Book Buddies
*Flag Duty
*School wide composting
*Coffee and Muffins in the Foyer
*Making of posters for fundraising (ie-McDonald's)
*Holiday Parade Clean-up
*November Epilepsy Awareness Activities

Accreditation is a service provided to full-member schools by the American Montessori Society. It is a voluntary process that takes 1 to 2 years to complete.

Accreditation begins with an intensive self-study, by the school, involving the school’s entire community—students, staff, faculty, administration, board members, and parents.

During the application process, every aspect of the school is examined and documented, including governance, curriculum, fiscal and personnel policies, facilities, health and safety practices, teacher preparation, and learner outcomes.

At the end of the self-study period, a thorough onsite peer review is conducted. In addition to determining whether the school meets AMS standards, the review team evaluates the school to see how well it is achieving its own mission and goals—whether the school is what it says it is and does what it says it does. We will welcome Sheila, Pam and Kathryn this week as our review team!

After identifying both strengths and areas to strengthen, the school commits to a strategic plan for improvement which incorporates the recommendations of its peer review team.

All AMS accredited schools must maintain compliance with school accreditation standards and work toward continuous improvement. Each accredited school submits a yearly report outlining progress toward the objectives in its strategic plan.

The Montessori School of Bowling Green was the first school in Ohio to successfully complete accrediation through AMS. We have been accredited for 21 years.

PTO Meeting

Please mark your Calendars** Our next PTO meeting will be MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH at 7:00pm in the Lower Classroom. The AMS re-accreditation team will be in attendance, and we would love to have many parents there as well. The agenda will include Fall Movie Night and Spring Fundraiser discussion ideas. Hope to see you there!

School delays and closings

The Montessori School of Bowling Green does not follow any other district for delays and closings. School may be delayed or closed when road conditions are hazardous. In order to give our families plenty of notice, we will announce a delay or closing by 6:30am by email and on our Facebook page. A delay may occur if the weather is treacherous at 6:30am and improves by 8am OR if it's challenging to determine to due darkness, lack of road clearance, etc. A closing may be warranted as early as 6:30am if conditions are hazardous. It is also announced on local radio and TV stations listed as "Montessori School of Bowling Green" or "BG Montessori."

Preparing for the weather
Our students love to play outside!  Please ensure that your child has hats, gloves, snowpants (when warranted), a warm coat and boots. For our early childhood families, please check to make sure that their extra clothes are for cold weather.
