Firstly, we can forget New Year's resolutions (which statistics show are mostly doomed to failure anyway) and move through 2017 one step at a time making small but lasting incremental changes towards better health.
Your Best Self
In my last newsletter of 2016 I mentioned the Best Self Journal which I was just about to 'road test' and I'm happy to say that I'm finding it great. There's no pressure to complete it every day because the pages aren't dated but I kind of feel I want to because it acts as my conscience, reminds me what I should be focussing on and makes me plan my time better. All good so far. It's fun and motivational and brings mindfulness to the cold winter evenings.

For those of you who are already familiar, you won't be surprised that Calc Phos (which is the tissue salt indicated for this time of the year) is prescribed for its restorative powers, its capacity to build up new blood cells and its importance after drains on the system. Does that sound like a post-Xmas recovery tonic to you?
Tissue (or cell salts as they are also known) have been prescribed since their discovery in the late 1800s to naturally correct mineral deficiencies in the body which result in symptoms of sub-par health. They are a safe and inexpensive way of bringing the body back into balance.
There are 12 tissue salts which can be taken individually or in combination and homeopaths often prescribe them alongside constitutional treatment to help with acute complaints. One of the best books on the subject is Natural Healing with Cell Salts by Skye Weintraub, ND.
I use them a lot in my practice to good effect but also find it useful to take each one of the salts during their indicated astrological months. The salt indicated from December 21st until January 19th is Calc Phos 6x and a 30ml bottle costs just £11. Adults can take 3 tablets 3 times daily and children 2 tablets twice a day. They are gentle yet effective, safe to use and suitable for all ages. Building up a first aid kit of them throughout the year will cover many acute complaints including coughs, colds, headaches, muscle spasms and much much more.
I strongly recommend you purchase a good book on the subject (such as the one mentioned above) which contain a repertory of complaints.

January is definitely the time to clean up our acts and to start really enjoying the wonderful seasonal veg that this time of year has to offer. Warming winter soups go down a treat and are so easy to prepare that you don't even need a recipe. Make the most of onions, leeks and garlic - they are prebiotics so help to produce the beneficial gut bacteria that good health depends upon. They act like a precursor to probiotics and between them are cleansing, antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, diuretic and decongestant (move over Night Nurse, these guys have it covered naturally).
If you know your diet has been a little bit lacking in the nutrient department for some time then you may want to supplement in the short term until you get back on track. There is no substitute for a good healthy diet but as an interim measure I can recommend Cytoplan's Wholefood Multi
There are lots of vitamins and supplements out there of very questionable quality but Cytoplan offer scientifically proven products that are recommended by many natural health practitioners and medical consultants (such as Dr Rangan Chattergee presenter of the BBC series Doctor in the House).

A look in the winter mirror
can be a little bit disappointing!
With the healthy glow of summer somewhere in the distant past and the ravages of central heating, cold winds and maybe a little too much alcohol giving us more of a resemblance to Rudolph than we would like, now is the time to take charge and give our skin some natural help.
Rather Lovely organic skincare products are especially formulated for sensitive skin but are suitable for everyone. While commercial products (despite what they say in their clever marketing) strip the skin of it's natural oils and protection, pure plant based products with essential oils (not fragrance oils) feed and nourish. Never fear using oils instead of creams or lotions, they won't make your skin greasy but will restore it's natural balance.
January is the perfect time to gradually
introduce a new skincare regime, one beautiful, organic product at a time. Going cold turkey (yikes are we back on Christmas again?) on all your current products will leave your skin unsettled and confused.
A great place to start is with the Love Purity Organic Cleanser
. Use it before bedtime to deeply cleanse your skin and allow the natural oils to moisturise it overnight. You'll wake in the morning wanting to look in the mirror.

products and if you want to collect and save on the delivery charge then no problem just click the collection box when placing your order.
Below is a little reminder of changes in my practice which have taken effect from the New Year
Lifestyles have changed so much in recent years and I feel it's now time for me to catch up. As such, there are some important changes to my working practice that I need to make you aware of.
