Only Three More Weeks!
The exhibit of Steiger textiles at the Tubac Center of the Arts is scheduled to close on November 14.

The exhibit traces the history of Harwood Steiger, his wife Sophie and sister-in-law Wanda Halbwachs from Harwood's early artist days on the East Coast, through to the silk screen fabric factory which opened in Tubac in 1956 and closed in 2004.

The Tubac Historical Society managed to track down examples of Harwood's watercolors from the 1920s and the hand-painted sign which hung in front of his Tubac shop, plus numerous examples of clothing made from his original prints.

Local residents provided bolts of fabrics and examples of the original silk screens and a self-described "Steiger addict" from Phoenix gave us full access to her collection of over 100 samples of fabric.  It was hard to choose what to include and what to leave out!

The exhibit has received rave reviews from our membership and we don't want you to miss this opportunity to see these glorious textiles.
