Will your MP support local buses?
Hello <<First Name>>
Did you know, three out of every five public transport journeys are made by bus?
Buses connect millions of people to jobs and college, shops and services, friends and family. They're great for our environment and our towns and cities too - just one double-decker bus can take 75 cars off the road!
Which is why it's shocking that the Government has no strategy in place for buses.
Yes, you read that right - there are Government strategies for rail and roads, walking and cycling, but no strategy for buses, our most-used form of public transport - meaning that they are often overlooked.
A bus strategy would help to:
- Protect local bus services
- Make buses greener
- Tackle loneliness
- Drive economic growth
A lot of MPs (including the cross-party Transport Select Committee) think there should be just such a strategy. So Campaign for Better Transport has invited all English and Welsh MPs to a drop-in parliamentary event to show their support.
Do you have a moment now to ask your MP to come along? The more MPs who come along, the stronger our case will be, so please tell your MP if buses are important to you and ask him or her to turn up.
