|Dear Friends and Family,
We have to buy tables! What do we do?
We can work with a local craftsman who will make a beautiful tables using local wood and titles painted with an international look with local artists.
We can buy cheap "made in China" tables that look O.K. - the cheapest easiest option!
You can guess what we want to do! Option A will cost us more money, but will support a local craftsman and will use local wood - staying consistent with our values.
Our budget for building out this second store is very tight, so we have had to be creative in our thinking on how we can stay local on this. Here is what we have come up with: we are trying to find 100 people who are willing to buy $200 of gift cards (split in any denomination). These cards could be used at any time after the second store opens and in either location. Essentially, this fronts us a chunk of money, so we can have beautiful, locally made tables... AND support a local craftsman.
How can you get involved? Come in to A Bowl of Good and purchase your $200 card or gift cards. We will take all your information and provide you with a certificate (receipt) of purchase. We will mail your gift card to you within one week of opening of the second store!
*Zeke Trainum grew up in Papua New Guinea. When he was 18 his family moved to Harrisonburg. In January 2012, Zeke left his stable job to venture out on is own to pursue furniture making as a business. Zeke does beautiful work and we are excited that he might be able to make our tables for the new location - keeping our money in the community, supporting a new small business, and blessing us with incredibl craftsmanship.
Win-Win, wouldn't you say?
