Colossians 4:2 - Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

The Manila E-quipper

"Equipping the next generation of Filipino church leaders for Christ"
Approved Workmen Training (AWT)
in Baras

By the Lord's amazing grace I have the opportunity to branch out of Manila in the summer months with training every Tuesday evening!

This is for pastors in the province areas around Baras. Baras sits east of Manila about 25km.

This group of pastors regularly meet with veteran missionary John Dreisbach. When John heard about AWT's focus on short-term training for expository preaching, he was kind enough to bring me into the regular meetings of these pastors.

John and I with some of the pastors at AWT event in Baras

I will use my 5+ messages on exegetical process & expository sermon prep to give the pastors encouragement in their work.

The plus sign here means we will potentially have 6 messages, but also that they will have opportunity to do outside work in exegetical process and bring it into the class for feedback.

As before in Baguio last November, the messages will focus on the following:

  • 1. The Kind of Preacher God Blesses
  • 2. Finding the Authorial Intent: parts 1 & 2
  • 3. Constructing the Big Idea
  • 4. The Joy of an Outline
  • 5. Key Parts to Every Message

John drives us out there from Manila and we meet at a small church there and have a meal together as well.

There are
11 pastors and all of them have been serving for 20+ years. All have expressed to John, and now to me, a need for further training to improve their skills. Yet it is far too difficult to attend a training in Manila, which I had heard and also why we take it to them.

In addition, these men are in constant contact with one another to support each other in ministry and family issues.

Pastor Roy, who uses his church to host the meetings, took time following our first training and during our meal time to share about the condition of his wife.  She has a chronic infection and skin problem the doctors have been unable to diagnose.

We spent time in prayer together over this ordeal they are experiencing.   Pray for these men, John Dreisbach and myself as we come together tonight for, "Finding the Authorial Intent - part 2".

Will You Join Our Support Team for 2016?

We are so blessed to have faithful supporters to meet our financial needs.

Thank you to those who have been able to respond and give so generously!

Furlough begins for us this coming June and goes 7-8 months until February 2017.

We would love to be able to gain new supporters and reach full support status again before our furlough even begins.  In this way, we will be able to focus on arranging and preparing future teams to serve alongside us.

If we return by February 2017, then we should be able to renew our visas for another 2 years before the April 17, 2017 deadline, which is cheaper and easier than starting over.

Can you help us with a one-time gift donation?

Can you join our team as a new monthly supporter of perhaps $10, $25, or $50/month?

If so, then click on the appropriate above icons to go to ABWE's website and giving pages.

All donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support.

NOTE:  We are experiencing some recent problems with our email at  robert.clark@abwe.cc.   Please communicate with us at rtclark@icloud.com  for the time being.
